Wordpress 2.7 is out. What do you think about it ? (it should be a huge step from 2.6 versions) Whats new ? Whats good ? Whats bad ? What do you think about it ?
i think its awesome! the most significant update visually would be the new revamp of WP-Admin, I think it's better with easier and quicker navigation also the new login are seems much cleaner and web2.0ish!
It's probably going to be a lot better in the long run, but I wish like heck they'd stop changing the dashboard interface with each new upgrade. Just when you get used to 2.5 here comes a new interface with 2.6. And just when you get comfertable with that they change it again in 2.7
still having a hard time styling the comments for the new comment threading feature. Overall it's a welcome change.
I am not sure the date when it is released . But I had just downloaded a 2.7 version to setup a joke site yesterday . Wordpress 2.7 must be great as it is always .
Oh, i have a blog under construction. When you told about the release, i checked it and found the latest release notification. i am now going to upgrade it. Does anyone had any incompatability problems?
WordPress 2.7 has a great interface, I just had problem with a 2.6 compatible plugin that I use. Except this little plugin problem, everything is working well. I suggest everybody to update.
I haven't used it yet, but I watched its trailer. It seems so classy from here. Check it out; http://vimeo.com/2491633
All you need to worry about are plugins that are non compatible with it, and if you're going to want threaded comments then you will need to edit comments.php from your old version. Honestly, I didn't have any theme related problems after I upgraded.
I have upgraded to wp 2.7. I too don't have any theme related problems. for those who have theme related problems, here is the link on how to migrate to wp 2.7 theme, http://codex.wordpress.org/Migrating_Plugins_and_Themes_to_2.7
love, love LOVE it! You can re-arrange the side bar however you want, one-click upgrades and installs of anything off wordpress.org (seems somewhat buggy still) plugins or themes. It's easy to find or do anything with less clicks! and it looks awesome! I've upgraded several blogs so far and still very happy with all of it!
To be honest, I'm waiting for 2.7.1. I'll let others find any bugs ... and give the plugin authors time catch up on the dozen or so plugins that I use. I remember about 2.3 upgrading too soon ... and having to go back to the old install. To me, it's not worth it to be too much of an "early adopter" --- while there are no security issues with 2.6.5, I'll have "patience my young padawan" until 2.7.1 appears!
Just to back up my post above ... here's the info from Ryan Boren: A major release segues right into bug fixing for the first maintenance release. You can follow what is being fixed for 2.7.1 here. So far there are five small fixes. Link to Wordpress Trac That's why I'll wait! Sure, each milestone ahead has issues, but I always find it safe to wait for that ".1" extra release.
Pretty good thinking actually. But I think of it as they wouldn't release a version that isn't totally safe. I know there will always be security problems no matter what the version, but I always trust the latest versions. Another thing, in the release notes for all new WordPress versions, they tell people what vulnerabilities the old versions have. So I think if someone sees you run an older version, they can crack you with that knowledge of what is crackable.
