Some things are just not perfect! When you think about upgrading to Wordpress 2.6 - Think again! If you are using NextGen Gallery and you like your thickbox, you can not run the Social Bookmarking Plugin anymore. It will make your thickbox disappear. Scriptaculous doesn't run either or you give up thickbox. Clicking the slide show or gallery links on pages will bring you straight to 404 error pages. You need to update the permalink structure to get your galleries working again. More about these problems and some solutions at the wordpress forum: But it gets better! After installing cforms and than going to cforms options we get this nice little message: All cforms data has been erased! And that's not all either. The recommendation:"Please go to your Plugins tab and either disable the plugin, or toggle its status (disable/enable) to revive cforms!" doesn't change anything. - So, no cforms.... Want my6cent? Wordpress 2.6 is for sure the worst release ever.
I agree. I think the WP bug testers must have been on vacation for 2.6. I updated a few of my blogs to 2.6 and it wiped all my categories out. I've rolled everything back to 2.5.1, and will be staying put for a while. WP is great software, but this latest version has been a bad joke.
Yeah i'm just about short of screaming! No way to get cforms installed on a new instance of wp 2.6. I'm getting the same message all over again. Now i tried to install cforms 8.5.1 and had the same joy! All cforms data has been erased! is all it spits out.... I'm thinking of uninstalling the whole thing and restart with wordpress 2.5.1
Isn't 2.6 the version they released a few weeks ahead of schedule? That's not something to be proud of when it doesn't work very well. After upgrading one site to 2.6 I realized it would be better to leave everything else at 2.5!
Not sure if 2.6 is the cause; but since updating my XML Sitemap plugin is giving errors. Whenever I post or update a post it cannot notify Google, LIVE or ASK.com
Weird, I updated as well and none of the problems happened to me! Cforms-II is running smoothly so far... Have to give it a detailed checkup and stuff... Thanks for the alert though...
Cforms works now after Oliver (the creater) went to have a look at it, it seems it got scared and decided to do it's job after all. In general 2.6 works fine, the problems are created by certain combinations of plugins. NextGen and Social Bookmarking for example. Or NextGen and Scriptaculous. I wrote several mails and left comments on the plugin sites, hope they get it fixed soon.
I completely agree with you,the permalink 404 error has been such a headache for the bloggers using WP 2.6 ,but still they are not worried about it I guess
i updated all the bloggers using my free blog platform service at choseit.com and there have been no problems at all, strange.
I updated my blog to 2.6 After they released it there was no problem. Everything is working fine for me.
I guess every new version has its flaws. Maybe just give it a little more time to and WP would probably be able to fix it?
Up to now the conflicts between plugins on WP 2.6 which have been reported are limited to Nextgen Galleries combined with Social Bookmarking or NextGen combined with Scriptaculous where the thickbox of NextGen seems to go on strike. Updating the permalink structure after an upgrade to wordpress 2.6 seems to be a good idea in any case though. just my6cent...
was too late for me to check this post , i have upgraded already using the automatic upgrade plugin and now i cant insert an image alligned to the left or right , it messes the page , how can i return back to 2.5 without loosing the data base of my blog ( ( (

@ QueenEve - Before you roll back, check out which plugins may conflict each other. In your case i'm quite certain that you use the FCK editor plugin. Turn that off and your alignment will work. That was already the case on 2.5 though... Otherwise use your backup and roll back or just wait a couple of days, they'll fix it, I'm confident. @ crumblepie - Guess you're right, but usually Wordpress waits to release a new version until at least most of the plugins are upgraded. This time though they where so trigger happy about the early release and now that... @ Arkserver - As far as i know only the combinations listed below make trouble right now, so if you use these plugins in combination on your blog, i recommend that you wait another week or so. Check for upgrades at NextGen and Social Bookmarking....
so now wordpres launched 2.6.1 , does this mean version where they fixed the bugs? so shall we upgrade or still not yet ?
Some themes and some plugins still don't work (I've tried). Most of them do, but some don't. So I still prefer the older version for now.
