I recently upgraded one of my blogs to 2.6.2 and suddenly found that all my categories had vanished from the categories.php page ( In Wordpress Admin). The categories page neither shows the name, nor the description. I've tried repairing the database, as well as tried to use Lester Chan's database repair plugin. The categories do not show up on the main page of the blog either, and the same goes for the post ( Posted under ____) Anybody who had to face a similar problem and managed to solve it successfully ?
This is a common bug if you upgrade from a blog that was originally (I think) version 2.3. The categories are still in the database but need to be manually edited to match what the new version of WP is calling them. Here is a link that should help: http://blog.cumps.be/wordpress-26-upgrade-fix-missing-categories/
