Wordpress 2.51 upgrade - not clear on instructions.

The instructions seem very plain and simple.

Step 1 - "Delete your old WP files, saving ones you've modified"

When I first read this, I thought I'd delete everything as there really isn't anything that I have modified. Fortunately I went for coffee because when I came back, I realized one of the files that I would need to backup is wp.config.php

Is there anything else that I should save before I delete all the old files?
What about just uploading everything via ftp and doing an overwrite wherever requested?

The new version won't delete the wp-config.php (there isn't one in the package).

Usually the files that might have been modified are your theme. You should backup your Themes and Plugins folder (wp-content/themes & wp-content/plugins) or don't upload those folders. If you overwrite them all the themes and plugins you had will be gone.

I guess I will wait for a while to see if everything is alright with 2.51 first. It seemed we just upgraded to 2.5 :(

Have you tried using the Automatic Upgrade plugin? I just used it, and it worked great.

Yeah, WordPress is constantly updated. Guess it's not really a bad thing, but it gets annoying upgrading all the time.

i upgraded just fine to 2.5.1 via the automatic upgrade plugin.

deleting wp-config aint the end of the world, only contains database connection info which can be re-written

Used automatic upgrade plugin. I think using it saves time. A great plugin.

Its the same for overwriting and through ftp... The install is easy and shouldn't be a problem for you at all. Plus we are always here if in case anything goes wrong (though cant think of anything that might go wrong lol).
