I'm blown away at how frequently Wordpress is releasing new updates...it's becoming very frustrating.
it can be tough when you have several sites to update but I still am impressed at how they are always striving to make WordPress better and usually their updates involve fixing security threats which is a good thing if you want your blog protected.
I haven't fully switched over to Wordpress just yet, but how come they upgrade so often? I hear people having problems with the new updates every time...
They update far too quickly... Too many addon issues after updates and it can be months before a dev fixes addons... maybe never for older ones
I wish I knew, the timeframe between upgrades used to be far and between, now it seems like they update every week or week and a half. It's a major pain in the ass to people who have heavily modded/trafficked Wordpress sites...or just many Wordpress sites.
I'm just curious, do you HAVE to update every single time they upgrade or no? Like can you choose to stay with the older version? For instance, I'm still using Windows XP instead of Vista...
hurm...i think it depends on their old vulnerabilities....if it's too risky...it's better to upgrade to the latest one i'm agreed that upgrading wp too often can be boring....it can made you mad if you have a large number of blogs...but hey...better to upgrade asap than get hacked when you need your blogs most!
It is getting something to the point of phpbb2, hope that they would stabilize their current versions, I just updated mine just a couple of days back! Maybe releasing a new 3.0 would help
the upgrades usually have exploit fixes. Not upgrading is an open door to getting hacked, unfortunately.
I've been waiting all day to download. I have lots of plug-ins not listed in http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Plugin_Compatibility/2.5 yet. I suggest waiting for couple of days until you see some reviews and comments before upgrading your website though. And yeah they make updates very frequent. I've just finishing a brand new blog using version 2.3.3 two days ago
I rather they delay the release longer and give us a version that do not require patching for months and months.
I met several people that have not upgraded when there was a new Wordpress update, 80% of them got their blogs hacked. Usually, once someone reports to their team, or they saw some "open doors for hacking", they release a fix/patch instantly. I don't care how many times in a month I have to update as long as my blog is secure
Once they release, definitely have to upgrade, just that their releases is kinda too frequent recently.
Maybe there should be automatic or one click updates, in which the software takes cares of the updation.
No. Wordpress doesn't update automatically and Fantastico and similar installers usually lag too far behind to be useful.
