WordPress 2.1 upgrade - issues?

Discussion in 'WordPress' started by minstrel, Feb 3, 2007.

I have WP2.07 installed and working well.

I received an email from the developer for one of my WordPress plugins indicating that WP2.1 was not compatible and recommending that people wait to upgrade.

Has anyone discovered any other compatibility issues and/or problems with upgrading from 2.07 (e.g., customization issues, etc.)?

I was wondering the same thing, I don't want to upgrade if it is not safe :)

If you have made mods to your blog chances are your 'blogroll' will be off. Your Link admin has changed its name to blogrol. The link categories have moved under the page categories umbrella. Finally, the rich text editor is gone. They have supplemented it with some messy editor which sucks pooh!

One of the Semiologic plugins. Mind you, he may have upgraded it by now.

Why don't you install wordpress and test the system on your local computer.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that post.

I note that the author says this, though:

95 % of my plugg in has not updated. My fav adsense delux has not even got close. Anyone know if the new version can just post the code or do you still need the delux plug in.

If you have a stabel 2.07 check your plug in then update

I agree. I think I'll stuck with 2.07 and let everyone else be the beta testers for a bit... :)

(I feel the same way about Vista.)

I'm not worried about the slowness - as always with Windows, you're going to need a lot more than the minimum stated resources requirements to run it - including a faster processor and more RAM than you need for XP.

It's the drivers and hardware and software compatibility issues that will be the killers.

Yes both wordpress 2.1 and Vista have the same problem.

We tried maybe 10 programs and all of them could not install VISTA said they were not ok with the new version. I think we have to wait at least 6 month before all major software are in phase.
