If u know html coding or u can use dreamweaver/frontpage then u can design static site but for updating content or adding new categories in static site wil lcreate prob. (its not an easy task)

Wordpress is a good blogging CMS and it is SE friendly, u can customize ur WP page/post very easily, and it will look like a site (if u r an expert)

They have no idea what they are talking about.

Unless you are pretty good at HTML, I would go Wordpress.

yeah i'm with amanamission. with wp, you can get a site up SO fast, and then with plugins you can make your site do anything. even if you don't want blog on your homepage, you can get a static homepage plugin. and you can get answers to EVERYTHING with the wordpress codex, and you can get people to help you from the codex too. that's what i do. and i've found that there is nothing that can't be done on a wordpress blog.

Exactly. I've had a million people tell me they don't want Wordpress it's only for blogs - then once I've made their static looking site with it they love it!

Wordpress has great SEO built into it. Just make sure to turn on custom Permalinks before you start writing any articles.

The plugins, support, and community are also great perks to choosing Wordpress. You can find answers to almost any problem or question on the first page of Google results.
