    How do you get the best out of blogs like word press?

    How do you customize etc?

    Well, customizing is really about themes... this can all be done from the wordpress admin page. If you have a default installation go to http://www.domain.com/wp-admin (change domain.com to your domain name). You will then be able to change several things.

    I would recommend downloading the All-in-One SEO addon as well and getting that going before you add content to your website.

    Here is a great place to find themes:

    The guy has some really awesome ones!

    As far as the rest, look through the plug-ins on the Word Press site to find the ones that suit you. I agree with PHPgator that the SEO plug-in is a must but I would use the new Platinum SEO Pack. It has the same features but adds some really good extra features.
