Wondering if having "parked" domains, or re-directs can help with SEO

    Hey everyone.

I'm going to use a hypothetical situation for my examples, only because the domain names I'm *thinking* of getting are available and I don't want anyone to buy them ;)

Okay, so I have a website, "dragondesigns.com" (not really my website, but for the example) that creates website templates. The words "template" or "skins" are not in the domain name, so this is my plan (is this a good idea and would it prove effective?)

Because a common search on a search engine for templates would be something like "Website Templates", I want to buy multiple domain names that have those keywords in them, such as "freewebsitetemplates.com" (I know it's taken, but for the sake of the example) or "greatwebsiteskins.com"...then I'd PARK (or host with re-directs) that take me to the real site, which is "dragondesigns.com". Would something like this work and get me way more visitors from search engines?

If a person typed in "Free Website Templates" on google, and the site "freewebsitetemplates.com" came up because it was so relevant to the search, then if they click that link, and it takes the person to "dragondesigns.com", would this be getting me more hits on dragondesigns.com? Would it work like this?

Please explain...this was a simple theory I had, and the domain names that would be suitable for search keywords are available :)

    Thanks

Most parking revenue programs offers you the ability to optimize your keywords and other meta tags to improve your site performance, in fact some offers you the aid of a SEO review before going live.

In theory it's good, but in the practice most partked domains are dropped from search engines listings as soon as a parking domains service or redirectio to those sites are detected

    hmm. makes sense.

What if I actually HOSTED those extra domain names (not parked them), and simply had EXACTLY the same homepage as I do on the "dragondesigns" site, and each link that they press just simply forwards them to the dragondesigns site?

Many sites use that technique, so it must be no harm at all.

If you type www.google.us, you are redirected to www.google.com.

Of course Google controls pagerank and we could be wrong, but there are SEO optimized sites such as www.money com that redirects you to http://money.cnn.com so I would try this alternative instead of parked domains ;)

True, but those are domain names that people would type in...not site names that would show up because someone typd in "United States Google" or "Money" on a search engine. My aim is to have domain names that match common keywords that would be searched for my niche very often and have those sites show high on the search engine because of that.

Parked domains give you a monthly refenue out of the traffic they get. But that's all about it. You basically lose most of the other advantages of owning a domain name.

Then do the people who sell "aged" domains have websites developed for them?
