Wow, was expecting an intelligent reply, I over estimated you Reading comprehension? Read my post, I actually answered your question at the start, and paraphrased at the bottom because I thought you would forget it after the 30 seconds of reading the body of the post. The last comment is pretty low, even by your standards, Mr "I just hate to see people (kids) do things that they'll end up regretting later in life." Oh well.
Well I never mentioned alcohol...so I'm not sure why you keep comparing the two. Anyway, I guess I should have read this post before i even started discussing this with you:
I think Blitz is just trying to say extasy isnt great for you but in msot cases it isnt going to do you any harm. Chronic heavy use and the occasional allergic reaction is an issue but then thats the case with most things in the world
Yeah, reading posts before debating normally helps, but then again, I'm the one with the reading comprehension from using drugs right? Yup... I guess that created the 'discussion point' which you keep talking about, and me going off topic with? Read the thread title and tell me I'm going of topic for christ sakes
No, what you said was: What I was pointing out to you is that taking ecstacy has been shown to deplete the serotonin levels in the brain. This happens regardless of the person taking it due to the neuropharmacological impact it has on the chemistry of the brain. It isn't about 'bad reactions', it's about the effects it has on brain chemistry in any user. Uh, ok, let me give you the figures then since you can't be bothered reading through the studies: between 500,000 to 1,000,000 per week. The large gap is because of trying to match the number of pills sold and consumed. How do you know?! And you conclude this from what? You didn't even take the time to dig into the research to find out the population groups studied or how the studies have been conducted. The Wikipedia is useful but it is not to be mistaken for the fountain of all knowledge. Well, since it wasn't, we can only draw parallels from opium, cocaine and heroin, which were all freely available at the turn of the last century and are now highly controlled substances. If you want to go back several thousands of years then the parallel is of course, cannabis, which is also a controlled substance. Maybe someone on the forum can help you out?
You're saying that at least 500k pills are taken per week in the UK? [By the way, none of the drugs you mentioned were used by *the masses* which is what I specifically stated, poor people couldn't afford them, when there were crack houses, the poor people resorted to Gin]
i checked the net and the figures i foudn were arround 1 million people used class a substances in something like 2003 in the UK. So doubt that figure would just be for the uk edit Users Class A Last year 1,028,000 Last month 473,000 http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/rds/pdfs2/r229.pdf
its not the ecstasy that effects you for days afterwards, it is more the side effects from dehydration and sleep deprevation. If you use pure MDMA powder and drink adaquate amount of water you find that you get no come down at all. I'm not trying to say that xtc doesnt have its risks but i do think they a over exagerated.
I don't think its that simple, right now there is big push to crack down x , so their will be tons of exaggerated reports about the harm it causes. http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A14627-2002Sep28?language=printer
It is routine in animal experimentation tests into the efficacy and tolerability of drugs to give extremely high doses, way in excess of any equivalent human dosage, in order to try to predict any potential harmful effects in humans.
Another story on X: http://today.reuters.com/news/newsa...112_RTRUKOC_0_US-ECSTASY-PERMANENT.xml&rpc=22
I know of a few people who will only do X. I think maybe they have the same false assumptions as some kids in this thread.
Actually dude, there is alot of party goers who pill every once in a while who wouldn't touch pot. The gateway drug mentality is just a good scare tactic measure used by the media, something which resinates in this thread as well.
yeah i think that is a bullshit comment sayign that pot leads to other drugs. I have done pills a few times when i was younger and only tried weed once later and hated it. If anything it a gateway drug it would be smoking fags or alcohol. Most of the people my age that smoke fags moved onto weed and most of them still smoke weed. As for booze most people i know have tried drugs whilst wasted off booze or are trying to find a different drug to alter reality. Oh yeah and as you say about the memery surely they would need to completely quit all forms of drugs to get an accurate reading. Weed does effect your memory and i am pretty sure heavy alcohol use screws your head up too
Bottom line, any one who knows better knows that excessive drug/alcohol use f***s you up. It makes you stupid, and it ruins lives if taken to excess. We all are subject to the possibility of addiction with any drug/alcohol use. Every addict starts out with just that first time (wow this is great) use. As an employer, I see people that have lost their kids, are terrible workers, erratic, on every public assistance imaginable, all because of drugs. I hear excuse after excuse for the various issues that come up every day. Their lives are hard, But I can see through the excuses, and it is really hard for me to understand how they continue justifying the drug use. But I also know from personal experience, just how easily we all can lie to ourselves to justify living this way. Blaa, blaa, blaa. If you are an abuser, life just sucks.
