I don't know where to post this thread but i think this is the right place...

I own a website which provides static html designs for free...we design the templates ourselves... however, I stumbled upon this wix.com, and it confuses me a lot.. i don't understand how it works so that just popped up a few questions in my mind...

    1. If i create a template on wix, do i own it? Although, i have no problem about distribution rights but what about the template.? will i be its owner or wix?

    2. Will i be able to download the template? And do i have the right to upload it on my own website and distribute it there? I already own a website so i don't want to use their hosting and stuff..

    3. Can i convert it to different platforms (after downloading the static html design from them)?? Say, wordpress.. and distribute it as a wordpress theme? will that cause any issue with their terms of service???

All the above questions are related to my templates which i myself create on wix and not taking someone else's template and converting it to wordpress...

please do take time to answer and don't point me at their FAQ or whatever page unless it is really simple to understand the point...

Why do you even need to use wix when you say you have your own hosting and you design your own templates anyway?

wix and all the other so called sitebuilder websites are just for noobs who don't know how to build their own website.

i just read online reviews and it said that the templates are not downloadable....

well, just wanted to try wix... it would have saved lot of time you know... we were just planning to create templates through their editor, download them and then just do some chopping and finishing...

well, anyways, we are back to old ways...

Templates are not downloadable. You can try to get the html but you can't get the JS which will leave you with a "half-ready" site.
If you just want the template I'd recommend getting some paid template elsewhere. There are tons of sites offering very affordable templates in various different formats.
