Yahoo shows 49 backlinks including internal pages: http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http%3A%2F%2Fbharatria.wordpress.com&bwm=i&bwmf=s&bwmo=&fr=sfp&fr2=seo-rd-se That's how..... /*tom*/
It not really depends on the backlinks i think, or google's algo have some error, why?: my one site drooped to 0 from pr 3 during this latests minor update and it have very good backlinks from high page rank pages, yahoo explorer shows more than 850 backlinks. and yes sunil, you are right i have seen many site with none backlinks and with copied content have high page rank.
Its not possible to get PR without backlinks! I hope you did not use the Google link: command to determine that they had no links! PR has nothing to do with content.
I was talking about Google link: only PR has nothing to do with content, it means someone can steal your contents and can still be on top on Google results This is really a flaw in system
Sunil i have seen such case when i started blogging in back 2005-6 one guy stole my content and posted in his blog and main thing was that my pr was zero and his pr was 3 , so his content got indexed first and i faced copy content option . So if someone is having more bigger pr and paste content after you and get indexed before us than he is genuine , which i hate the most .
Well, i do have one blog is same as you. I was almost forget about the blog (I make it since last year) and after i check the backlink, i do only have 7 backlink from PR0 forum, and nothing more then that, and i get PR3
I have noticed a few sites lately that have no backlinks in the google link: search and yet have pr3 or 4 ranks, I have also noticed that many sites seem to only have links from pages on the same site, and have PR4, this often happens with blog sites, they are linking to themselves and getting some very good page ranks out of it. I'm also concerned when doing the site: search in google, many of my content meta tags aren't being displayed, so all the pages on my sites that google has indexed are showing, and all showing with the same description, when I think of all the work that went into giving each page a different description tag, I'm really hoping this is just some hic-cup. I've also read around that links from google to various sites have dropped dramatically, eg.12,500 a day down to less than 100 visitors from google. I think google is trying something new and it's definately not working, the thing is google must be hurting too, cause if the visitor aren't getting to sites, then google ad's aren't being clicked on either, so google must be losing money, and that will get googles attention fast I bet. Regards Lynn
I was always under the impression Google did not show all backlinks via link:yoursite. Is this wrong?
They have been doing that for years. Why is anyone even using the link: command in Google for? It only ever shows a meaningless irrelevant small random sample of all the links that Google knows about and uses. Sometimes that random sample contains no links. Its totally meaningless and does not mean that Google does not know about and use links. Its been that way for years. Why is it still coming up as an issue?
yes, the link: operator is practically useless. and with regards to PR, although the PR has nothing to do with content, this doesn't neccesarily mean that the page will be at the top of a search. PR is sort of a purely mathematical ranking, but in the searches Google looks at relevance and duplicate content as well, among many facters. So high PR doesn't neccessarily equal high position. It just helps if you have good content.
in big network like wordpress or blogger, you can get big traffic or big pr without any activity. I have two blog in wp & blogger. in wp, My blog get pr4 (I don't know how much visitor coming there) & in blogger, my blog receive 5k visitor in two months. I didn't do any kind advertising, only giving some quality content.
Google does not show all of the backlinks a page has in the public results. The best way to determine how many links google is really charting for a page is to login to the Google Webmaster Tools and view the backlinks that they are only willing to show the site owner.
Thanks for this tip. I have seen good results at times from link: so I thought it was ok, but other times it is low.
Please note that using google link: does not show all links that google "IS" considering for your page. Never have, and never will.
