Dear Digital Point Friends and Family,

My family will be walking in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk for a cure and I need your help! This will be our fourth year walking for a cure and during this time we have raised thousands of dollars for diabetes research to help Hayley, and the millions of people just like her, whose lives have changed because of this disease.

My beautiful daughter Hayley was diagnosed with type one diabetes on April 29, 2005, just four weeks after her fourth birthday. She spent three nights in Texas Children's Hospital and after those days and nights our lives were completely different, in fact we never returned to the lives or the people that we were before 5:30pm on April 29, 2005. Suddenly there was concern about what and when we were eating, and how much sugar was in everything. Eating and exercising took on a whole new life, one that seemed foreign and painful on so many levels. Suddenly the threat of future blindness, nerve problems, heart problems, kidney and liver complications and so much more were pressing down on us, reminding us of just how precious life really is.

To date Hayley has endured more than 6,000 finger pokes to test her sugar and right around 2,500 insulin injections. Each day starts and ends with testing her sugar, and breakfast and dinner aren't consumed until she has taken an injection of insulin. Many people ask us if it is hard or if we hate insulin, our answer really does depend on the day! But, one thing is certain, it's not a choice. It's not a choice for Hayley to run and play without thinking about her glucose numbers, it's not an option to eat the cake and the ice cream without worrying about insulin, and it's not a choice to keep running and playing when you don't have enough glucose in your blood to walk, talk, or even swallow. Insulin injections, finger pokes for glucose checks, running high, and running low are all things that Hayley has to deal with, and sadly, has learned how to take them all in stride.

While we live this life, the life of a family with diabetes, the very best that we can, it is not good enough and our goal is to cure Hayley. Did you know that insulin is not a cure? It's simply a lifeline until we can find a cure, and to cure Hayley we need your help. Each year we raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation because the funds go to research, research that will someday help our beautiful girl run, play, eat, and live the carefree lifestyle that other kids do; the life that she was supposed to live. Through the money that we raise, researchers are able to further their knowledge about what causes diabetes and how it can be cured so our girl can live life without worrying about her carb counts, her insulin to carb ratios, or really low or high glucose numbers, and the often fatal side effects of a life of diabetes.

We know that everyone has their own causes, charities, and fundraising opportunities, but our hope is that you will consider donating even one dollar to Hayley's Fight. Every dollar really does make a difference. There is hope that Hayley will see a cure within her lifetime, something that could not be said by previous generations, and every dollar that Hayley raises puts her one dollar closer to living a life without diabetes. Won't you give as generously as possible to help her make life without diabetes a reality?
Want to become a part of Hayley's Fight? It's easy, make a donation, tell others about JDRF, and/or send this email on to your friends and family who would like to cure Hayley as well as millions just like her! Each year our team of concerned individuals from all around the world grows and we hope to see you and your friends and family as members of our team.

You can donate and track Hayley's Fight team progress at her website www.hayleysfight.com. At the top of this page you will see a yellow banner that you can click on and this will take you straight to a JDRF donation page. The money that you donate will go directly to JDRF to help find a cure! No donation is too small, so please consider giving to Hayley and the millions of others like her in an effort to put an end to Hayley's Fight. What's in it for you? The knowledge that you have helped millions, not to mention a tax deduction! When you make a donation through Hayley's website it goes straight to JDRF and is put to use! With you on our side we are sure that we can meet and surpass our goal of $3,000 this year, putting us that much closer to a cure!

Thanks in advance for your support,
