I was setting up some stuff at google's webmaster resources and one section asked which url I preferred, with or without the www Is there a major difference? Does it effect seo? For some reason, the particular site I was setting up www.gardenscope.com doesn't display the www even I type it in.
it doesnt matter which format you use. but whichever one you use, use an uniform url and stick with it
Are you guys sure it makes no difference, with or without the www.? I have always been told it is much btter WITH the www., but again, be consistent!! I always use the www. and they always appear in my SERP on Google and MSN, but for some reason the search results for http://www.cardsshoppe.com and http://www.express-invitations.com sometimes appear WITHOUT the www. Any ideas why??
But I think most people will feel more comfortable with a www version. So I will go for a www version instead of a non www version.
Just don't rotate www / no www when building links and you will be fine. I still prefer www and many Internet users can't imagine a site that doesn't start with www.
I used no WWW. I prefer URLs that way. http://site.com looks better than http://www.site.com. The www is surplus and pointless. Started dropping the http:// recently as most browsers don't require it anymore. Just need sites to start recognising a URL from the TLD rather than prefix.
