    Because it doesnt matter whats in there.

    You can throw a keyword in just the content and rank high for it.

    Are you counting <title> too? Thats important and really helps rankings for keywords.

    In 2002 there was an article "are Metatags Dead." I do not believe the big three use the keyword tag. Know Google does not. I personally get next to know referrers from lesser search engines, I could probably drop from my sites but want to do everything possible for that extra edge.

    that makes alot of sense to me, I know we can change the google ads showing by changeing the title on some pages, so SE's use the title more the meta tags..

    Yeah Meta tags aren't that important these days. Title is though. The SEs read the first few sentences and work their way down.

    IMO keywords are stillused but they are not as important in the ranking.
