Wisconsin lawmakers flee capital

Apparently, Wisconsin lawmakers are the tip of the sword whne it comes to getting serious about cutting the size government. Gov. Walker has introduced legislation that would seriously curtail the collective bargaining rights of government workers. The law would also make public workers pay half the costs of their pensions and at least 12.6 percent of their health care coverage. The numbers still won't come close to matching the much lower benefits packages available to public sector employees, but its a step in teh right direction.

Democratic lawmakers have literally fled the state to prevent quarom from being reached on a vote taht will assuredly result in this legislation being passed. By bringing the legislature to a halt, they have bought time for their union thugs who are flooding the streets of the state capital with protesters to thwart any efforts to cut government spending. Fear mongering teachers have mobilized thousands of students into the streets of Madison.

Just like the Arizona Immigration law, I can see this scene being played out soon across most of the 50 states in the union. I wonder if Washington will get the message.

Yeah, that's a time honored DNC tactic
In 2003 the Texas legislature had a redistricting bill on the table that would have undone some seriously gerrymandered districts, the makeup of which was not-coincidentally the only thing between some longterm DNC lawmakers and a search for an honest job.

    Dems Flee Texas for OKlahoma
The Dems knew they didnt have the votes to win, and having in their heyday worked very hard at drawing up the existing creatively fashioned strongholds they were pretty sure they didnt care to see a quorum convened for a vote to undo such pretty work. So they bravely fled the state like scalded dogs as speculation flew that the governor was considering tasking the Texas Rangers to pick the legislators up like truant school kids and take them in to vote (aka: do the job they were elected to do).

It was a brief wild ride as they converged like a bloated middle aged fraternity road trip on Ardmoore Oklahoma... simultaneously raising the average IQ of both states as they crossed the border. Not sure if they formally applied for asylum, but I hear it wasn't long before the good citizens of Oklahoma begged for an immigration bill to remove the welcome mat on their southern border. Rumor has it the Oklahoma lawmakers were talked out of it by a coalition of liquor store and brothel owners who interceded to keep the state from prematurely killing their sudden windfall.

This thing is heating up. The SEIU is now promising the support of Unions across the country in blocking the Wisconson democratic process. Meanwhile, TEA party activists are organizing counter protests. We'll be at Egypt soon enough!

The benefit packages aren't sustainable. The states have used the stimulus money the last couple of years to balance their budgets.

It looks like the next battle will move to Ohio.

If Wisconsin goes, and I thiink(hope?) it will, the rest of the states are going to look at Wisconsin the way the Middle Eastern Arab dictatorships look at Egypt. Revolt is in the air.

When they are done with the government Unions, lets hope they go after the rest of the special interests who have been bleeding the tax payers to line their own pockets, including farming subsidies, wall street bankers, and the rest. Cutting the special perks given to people making twice the equivilant wage earned in the private sector for the same job seems like the low hanging fruit.

Have you looked at how much money will be added to Wisconsin's state coffers by the few reforms being proposed? How any self respecting Democrat support the idea of a few people living large at the expense of everyone else. I was under the impression the Democrats were a populist party, not an eliteist one.

I remember when a union decided to bluff about shutting down vital services once before if their demands weren't met. I got into real estate in time to watch a lotta newly fired air traffic controllers houses go on the market in an early example of why it was unwise to threaten President Reagan.

I live in Madison Wisconsin and went to the rally Thursday in support of Scott Walker! There are about 3 million people in Wisconsin and only about 20,000 came to the protest! Thats not much at all. The unions who are shipping in people from all over want you to think its alot! This is the start of killing a no long COMPETITIVE UNION IN WORLDWIDE COMPETITION.

GO Republicans Fire 6,000 people or cut some benefit entitlements. Police and Firefighters are immune and will have no Cuts! Hang in their Scott Walker dont fold on these DEMS! Stop shipping in people from all over unions. The unions no longer have a competitive edge worldwide.

We are paying 4 billion a day in interest payments on our debt in the USA. Republicans are finally trying balance the budget! Say no to a not profitable railroad system and tell Obama to keep his money we are saving! Your stimulus flopped we dont want shovel ready jobs but laptop ready jobs!We have all the votes to pass the bill all we need is one dem that ran away past state lines to sit in!

Is this thread about trolling, or a subject that interests you? I guess it must be trolling if starting a thread on your own is the criteria for trolling. Notice, unlike the OP, I will post in his troll, err thread.

And yes, I did just watch it and yes, it is relevant to the topic.

@Bushranger: LoL. Is that what you consider "Real News"? ;) Stop it man, I'm laughing so loud, I'm crying here. Seriously... stop!

BTW, thanks for the thread bump. Amid catastrophe in Japan and all the other craziness in the world, at least we can look at Governor walker's elimination of an unethical special interest group as a nice little bright spot in the universe today.

Umm, that's RT, not Aljazeera.....notice how I answer without answering...you taught me that. :)

And, nps on the bump, anything I can do to show how silly your arguments are is my pleasure

Thanks for pointing out it was RT. I had missed that initially, only noting that it was a commentary segment like Maddow, Olbermann, Beck, or Hannity. This is exactly what the Al Jezeera video you posted earlier called the failure of American news broadcasting, along with the inundation of advertising. The fact it is coming from a Russian news outlet makes the point perfectly that the stupidification of the programing on most news outlets is not a purely American phenomenon. I laughed when the guest on the Al Jezeera panel pointed out that they themselves were commentary talking heads.

Anyway, thanks again. You are a case study in the problems caused by sensationalistic commentary programming on news channels. It falls in lock step with the quotes you pasted in from Salon.com, as if they have some journalistic integrity and facts backing them up.

Were you ever going to get me some links to the war crimes exposed by Wikileaks?

I provided the info and links in the appropriate thread. If you can't accept them, that's your problem not mine. You can't be suggesting we hijack yet another thread surely. The OP probably wouldn't appreciate that. :)

    1) I was just chiding you because you and I both know you don't have any such evidence.
    2) I am the OP, so I don't mind taking the time to further discredit you on nearly every last thing you opine on.

I know you are but what am I? Really? Feeble man.

If you were "owning" me, you would have no need to go out of your way to tell me you are owning me. It would be self evident. In that spirit, please, tell me again how you are owning me ;).

P.S. Any luck on those US war crimes exposed by Wikileaks? I'm excited! Can't wait for the war crimes tribunals to start!

You interpreted my explanation of the OP(me) not minding taking time to discredit you as a claim that I am owning you? It was an attempt to explain that the OP(me) wouldn't mind the derail, but take from it what you will :D.

Gee, a group of ignorant uninformed people who like handouts versus a group of ignorant uninformed people who would cut spending at the cost of humanity.

Sounds like politics as usual in the United States.

Oh my! It is like the NFL lockout too! Hooray! When the system itself is inherently bad, does it matter what the final result is? Shite in, shite out.
