Need one wireless net connection for my laptop as i have purchased a laptop few months back(3-4 months). Which wireless net connection you prefer ? Daily i see ad on TV about Tata Indicom plug-to-serve I don't want to use it all time as i have another cable connection with me. This is just for sometimes use so i need good and cheaper one
I've heard GPRS connection via mobile phone is possible in India. Don't know the company, but Google knows some.
i am using sift internet and im myself hunting for good wireless connection. tata indicom looks expensive to me , i just talked to sales executive of tata indicom they have hourly plans, monthly plans and so forth, initial usb cost is 2950rs which they show in that ads. and then their plan starts from 325rs per month
Is there any MB based plans for this as its not necessary for me to use it frequently but whenever i need.
yes they do have mb based plan, 512mb and then 2rs extra per mb is what they charge , im trying to find out the rate card online, but not succeded yet. also im looking forward to reliance wireless connection, last time i asked the executive they told that it would cost me 3450rs and minimum of 400rs a month , they offered 1gb limited b/w per month , and mentioned you have unlimited surfing , i was a bit confused with that. unlimited tata indicom offer is for 1400rs a month.
I am in a remote place of India and the only means of internet connection for me is the Airtel GPRS connection with EDGE. You'll need a EDGE enabled phone (I use Nokia 5200) and Mobile office facility activated from airtel. The speed is 150 Kbps (around 18-19 KBps) while downloading and its good for me. It costs me only Rs. 300 ($7.5) per month for unlimited downloads. The other option is to get a Reliance connection. The speed is same but its costlier at Rs. 1500 for unlimited connection. And you'll have to get a device that plugs into your laptop directly.
finally got the link for tata indicom plug n play tarrif: http://www.tataindicom.com/t-personal-internet-plug2surf-tariff.aspx i tried calling up mtnl 1502 (toll free no ) for wireless, they have garuda , but speed is very slow so i turned it down.
Ofcourse there are MB based plan in reliance but in Airtel GPRS there is only one plan and that is unlimited one but its too cheap, it also enables you to surf the net over your handset.
Just get a EDGE enabled phone and activate your mobile office facility by calling the customer care. Then connect your phone via a USB data cable and then connect the internet just like the dialup. The speed is 150 kbps which is quite good for a price tag of Rs.300. If the phone is not EDGE enabled then the speed will be pathetic around 48kbps....
Does edge work at all places? If so I would also like to get a laptop, for my business needs.Since till now I was nt able to have a stable on the move internet.
I heard that Airtel provide plan like daily basis (15 INR for daily usage). Is it true ? And can you tell me my phone SE w700i is EDGE enabled phone
I think airtel has EDGE enabled network in most of the states of India in which it is offering its services. Currently, I am in Madhya Pradesh and Airtel GPRS with EDGE is there for my rescue.
reliance connection is good but the only problem is that its costly. It costs Rs.1500 a month for unlimited connection while airtel costs Rs.300 for unlimited connection. The speed is same i.e. around 150 Kbps.
Just asked airtel person and he said that if you have airtel postpaid connection you have to pay 600 INR monthly and this charge is only for unlimited surfing and you have to pay extra for downloading BTW he said that this service is called 'Mobile Office'
