Wireless Hot Spot Landing Page

I'm currently managing a wireless installation and a web site for a local company. Basically hot spot that the customers can use free of charge.

Getting ready to deploy a home page that will automatically show up the first time someone connects and opens their web browser. Doesn't reset any settings, just a landing page for new connections (basically tracks the mac address).

Internet feed is provided by a DSL line.

So..... If sent this question to google, just figured I'd post it here for comment as well.

Problems I can see would be single IP address for all the connections since they are natting.

Plus I'm not sure what the TOS would say about the generated, all be it one time, landing page.

    Any thoughts?

Ask Google... They will say no prob (maybe). Display ads for a month or so...get nice clicks/income...You get an email saying "You are Banned".... You ask them why? ....They say we wont tell u ...we hired someone whom we pay millions for our alogrithm...moral of the story... DONT do it..its going to ban you!!!

One good way to monetize that page as an alternative is good old fashioned banners - with a captive audience and a local presence, you should be able to ask a premium for banner space on a page like that from local real estate agents, car dealers, entertainment businesses, etc, much in the same way local companies advertise on napkins/menus of local restaurants and park benches.

it would be a good target audience

    just an idea

Yep, that's what the basic plan is. Local ads and such. I've looked through the TOS but I didn't see anything that actually matched up to this scenario. I sent the question in so we'll see what happens.

I remember something about proxy's but this doesn't really fall into that category either.

I'd be willing to be that this is one of those "grey" areas that I would rather not venture into anyway.
