Hello, I am in the process of building a wirless forum, mainly for WISP's, "Wireless Internet Service Providers" , equipment vendors and tower geeks. I am on several Wireless mailing lists, but as with all mailing lists there is WAY TOO much mail flowing, so I figured a forum would be better suited to weed through the thousands of threads that are generated.

Anyway, the forums I am building are located at http://forums.wispfinder.com

I am looking for comments on the layout, look and feel as well as the organization of topics/categories.

Just an FYI, I am also building "WISPFINDER" or http://www.wispfinder.com which will be a online hotspot and wireless ISP finder/locater service. It has one unique feature that the other HotSpot and Wireless searches do not seem to have, ie., the ability to locate a WISP/HotSpot near you based on some unique factors. It is much more acuarte and reliable than any I have seen out there. We have a db of around 13,000 + locations. I hope to have it on line in by spring.

    Anyway. Thank you!

    Hi Mia,

The forum looks cool! phpbb sure has some nice options.

I only noticed one small redundancy...in the header itself:

WISP Forums - Wireless Internet Service Provider Forums
A forum dedicated to "WISP's" Wireless Internet Service Providers

    The second line seems redundant.

    OR

    You might put it as:
WISP Forums - A forum dedicated to "WISP's" Wireless Internet Service Providers

    What you say?

Well it does and it doesn't phpBB that is. It is cheap, and to get it to look cool and function kinda close to vBulletin it takes a bit of work. I customized Morpheus, a popular skin/theme.

I think you are right on the redunancy, I'll look at changing that. Thank you for the suggestion.

    Hi mia,
Nice looking forum you've got there... looks like you have allowed anonymous postings or was it deliberately set.
You may also consider to blend Adsense colours to that of your Morpheus skin. Currently, it's set to a glaring green...:)

    Good luck in your site.

Yeah, I have not finished.. Anonymous will be off.. phpBB has it on by default. You are correct. I need to adjust the adsense colors. Thanx!

Thank you.. Yeah, I like vBulletin a lot, especially in this forum as it really flows well. It has its faults as well, but overall there are some really nice features. Most of these can be duplicated with a bit of customization or mods in phpBB, though not as pretty :)

In any event vBulletin costs, phpBB is free.. The site I am building will be free, as well the location services and listings, so I'm going the inexpensive route.
