Hi, I bought a VPS 1000 plan today from wiredtree using my credit card, in return I was asked to send scanned copy of the credit card and photo id proof. I gave them my ID proof but do you think it is safe to send the scanned copy of the credit card that too front and back both sides.

Has anyone faced this situation earlier, I made them a call to ensure that the payment was legitimate.
Hope the payment gets through and my money isn't lost.

If you do not belong from the US, they will ask you for scanned copies to avoid fraudulent transactions.

Yes, it's legitimate. Many companies do that to combat fraud.

Wiredtree is a very well-known company.

The fraud is getting worse and worse and hosting companies use such systems to verify card users identity. Don't fault them for it. Fraud cost you and them and the less fraud cost then the more saving they can pass on to you. Reputable companies do fraud checks.

Yes, It's a part of order/payment verification procedure which is followed by most webhosting service provider to avoid any fraudulent order in the billing. You can also refer to the ' Privacy Policy' of your webhost to ensure the security of your personal information.
