Windows7 Personal Experiences

I was able to download a version of Windows7 from demonoid and played around on it for a bit on my laptop. It seems like a spiced up vista, and the only problems I have had with it thus far are driver related (which is to be expected since it's and early test copy).

I was wondering, from others that have tested it out, what you think of it.

you can still update your entirely unrecognize driver using the windows update in windows 7, i tried it. Very good, but the build 6801 is a uncomplete things. Will going to have more different in the pre-beta and the beta 1 version. hehe...

Wow that's good.. Even I'm planning to try it very soon... My HDD crashed recently.. So need to buy a new one before I had to setup a machine for windows 7.. I had seen many screenshots of Windows and feel that it needs many improvements..

I have, and i think its great. Found some "hacks" that enables the new taskbar.
I know a lot of people hate vista, and have already made up thair mind about windows 7 just being a skinned vista version.
But I am realy looking forward to the beta arriving early next year.

I've studied it's components a bit, the number of threads system services are running and played with a debugger a bit. My conclusion is that it was build on top of Vista. No kernel rewrite, nothing. The differences are very little. I fail to see how it is an improvement from Vista. Perhaps time will prove me wrong.

I've seen some articles about it's boot time being quicker and that it uses less memory when running apps than Vista and it has like 11% improved battery life when running apps, which is some improvement i guess.

I'm going to download the build7000 beta tomorrow and run it on a VM to see if i can break it :)

Windows 7 beta, the version that I am using maybe a bit bug, problem on the hardware drivers, some of the hardware aren't able to use but that wasn't so bad. The speed of loading and startup are more faster than vista. Eventhough Window 7's PC are older than the Vista PC, it load more faster.

Hopefully more updates will be out for the windows 7. Plus if there could be some interface newer look than vista, a bit similar to XP, and I think it will be perfect.

I installed Windows7 on my desktop PC, in XP and Vista I need to manually install some drivers but in Windows7 all the drivers automatically installed. I like the Taskbar and Themes.

I have 3 Gb Ram installed and Vista uses 50% resources while doing nothing and on other hands Windows7 uses 30% resources while doing nothing ;)

Hi Guys! I discovered somethig cool on Windows 7! A great trick. Just try it. :D Open, lets say, 5 windows on Desktop. Now, catch one of them from the bar (the one with minimize, close buttons) and then shake it! You will notice that the other windows will dissapear and the only that you shaked will remain active. Do it again (skake it) to restore on desktop the other windows). Cool dont you think? :D

I havn't tried it yet. I plan on waiting for beta1 to come out as it's usually more stable. Oddly enough it took 15 minutes for the first "released build" to appear on Mininova. Imagine what will happen when they actually start selling the official release.

One friend of mine, witch is expert in PC's, told me that Vista was made on Windows Server 2003 platform, and that was in fact the huge problems with the drivers. But Windows 7 is made on a hibrid platform (XP + Vista) and thats why it dont have same problems with drivers. Also, Windows 7 have a great recognition system for the drivers, and Microsoft is updating everyday his driver server.

Thats a function that they explained on the windows 7 part of the microsoft site, it's been known for awhile.

What exactly are you comparing it to though? XP, Vista? ME 98?
