Well, Windows 7 uses even much less powerful computer then Windows XP.
About the documents, you just need to get used to it.

Take basic help in Windows 7 site. You can get help with your documents here.
In my opinion, Windows 7 is better.

Vista Biz is better than 7 any day of the week. as far as crashes go. Even worse on thumbnails :( and don't use a portable drive between Vista and 7. It'll get corrupted. Vista and XP okay 7 and XP okay sometimes. but vista and 7. don't do it. Don't know why but at some point you'll be running chkdsk in a panic.

If you install Windows 7 on a decent machine, it's pretty nice.

You can install Ubuntu, which is free.

I'm a linux user. But from x reasons i have to dualboot. My 1st choice is Win7, is greater then Vista anyway and XP makes powerful computers slow.
If you wan to switch to a OS userfrendly go with Ubuntu , it's great, you won't have to worry about spyware and viruses.

Laptop may play a role also, I have a Sony Vaio with windows 7, and never had any of the problems you guys are talking about. To be honest I think you may have even got too use to xp and that's why you don't like it. I have xp, vista also, and enjoy Windows 7 the most. I guess the old saying is true, if it aint broke don't fix it, that is probably why you like xp better... But IMO windows 7 is the best by far.

Once you stop all the useless processes and visual effects, it become quite fast. It is inherently user friendly also. I like it better that vista...

I use Windows 7 Ultimate in an Asus eeePC 1000H and runs great. Even faster than XP.

Vista better than 7? Install an analyzer and get the results by yourself. Vista consumes 4x more resources than 7. Vista takes a lot to boot, 7 takes me 15 seconds. Vista has run out of production, and yet, not all the security holes have been fixed.

Vista uses a kernel architecture that was so bad, that Microsoft itself had to roll back and built 7 on XP's kernel.

Windows 7 is the best OS from Microsoft thus far, but I agree that Win XP still performs better on lower-end PCs and Notebooks.

Windows 7 is pretty stable on my machines. Much better than Vista though...
For my personal use I have Windows 7 running on a mini Packard Bell laptop and on a HP Pavilion desktop machine, both work without problems (so far...).

I also never had any real problems with XP so I guess it depends on the user. Maybe I'm just not such a die hard computer geek as some of you here :)

Besides, XP is limited for today's specs. It can manage only 3Gigs DDR, even if it recons more...

And it will continue to be, if you don't try any other.

Windows 7 is a fine OS, vista not so much, XP Had a good run for the time... but you can install 7 on all the computers xp was on ( i know i have - p2, 92 mb's of ram) and it runs just as good as XP or Better... so Enjoy Windows 7

i have 4gb RAM and with XP the machine works superfast.
With windows 7, it just gets slowed along with Antivirus and other softwares.
i have both in my PC.
i have to say that in terms of graphics and visuals, vista or win 7 are way far ahead of XP.
