download AVG or AVAST and schedule a scan at boot up. If all else fails, you will have to format drive and reinstall the operating system.

You could run Ubuntu live from a USB drive and run a scan your hard drive as well....

Had the same problem myself in the past - tried everything nothing worked...ended up having to reinstall windows and I lost everything. Then the first thing I did was invested in good anti virus software and thank god I haven't had any problems since.

You could try to boot it in safe mode with internet connection so you can still download your anti virus.

I would re-install windows. That's the safest way in my opinion.

Well i prefere to delete partition that it infected and re-install windows on that partition. For me that's the best solution.

First of all restore your system and then install a good anti-virus.

Or use windows 7(32bit/64bit) based on your computer configuration.

always use norton anti-virus or mcafee.Just at the time of installing ,it will start cleaning virus by the time it gets finished installing. There will be no virus on your computer.Update virus definitions daily and scan at least 2-3 times per week.It is recommended to keep away viruses, spyware, adware etc

At first use a good antivirus like avast or Nortons. Update the virus definition and scan your system. If no upgrade is seems then full partition your hard drive and install new operating system.

Windows 7 is great. But Windows XP is the greatest OS ever made considering the time when it was made.

Question is how the OP can clean the computer, and not what OS can you recommend and why.

However, I often ask myself why people reply a question offering input in something that nobody is asking. Not meant to be rude or offensive, just really wondering why.
