I love XP. I do not like Vista. I have had too many problems with Vista. I have never had any problems with XP. That's my vote.

Shame, I actually really liked XP. I've tried Vista and I hate it, but I won't be need to upgrade my computer for quite some time.

I can see them retiring windows 95, but why the hell would they retire a perfectly good OS? I've never had a problem with XP, my 2.6Ghz computer bought 7 years ago with 512 RAM is faster than ever with XP, even with high processing tasks and games. Vista is probably the crappiest OS I've ever seen, everything runs slow, annoying configurations, etc. If anything I would get my old windows 95 going before ever switching to VISTA.

If something works great, why change it into crap just so they could say "we have a new OS that is newer than XP" or "XP is 6 years old, it's time to make something else even if it's crap just so we can say we got something neewwww"? They should just keep XP and do service packs for 1000 years.

I am currently on Vista as we speak and when I first installed it I couldn't see what the big deal was with people having issues and whatnot with the OS. After using Vista for about 6 months or so now, I am disgusted with Microsoft. Vista just degrades so damn badly over time and I occasionally defrag, clean up useless files, scrub my registry and tweak settings.

The disk transfer speeds are apalling. Vista gives my Disk Transfer Rating a 5.1 yet it can sometimes take 2 minutes to move a few 3 or 4mb files. What gives? I'm moving to Linux as of today, I do use Dreamweaver and a few other applications but I feel confident using an open source alternative will eventually get easier and easier over time.

    - Dwayne.

in "my opinion" Fedora and Ubuntu are the two most popular. My last Fedora try was FC6 before move to Debian/Ubuntu. I know FC8 is good but I find Ubuntu really user friendly, easy to maintain and stable.

I know people who have "downgraded" from vista to xp due to vista's general suckiness.

It's all about money I'm afraid.Bill Gates hasn't got enough yet so they release Vista.
I have used XpPro since it came out without a single hitch.Web,games, apps the lot.
I really don't like the look of Vespa :D

Why does the threadstarter say Vista sucks ? I love it ! AndXPmaybe IS 6 years old, but all the up-to-date addons can make your XP 1 month old. Anyway, 90% ofthe world uses XP (who use Windows).

    Another suggestion - LINUX :)

Anyway, i think gary'sright. WHat's the difference - retired/new ? Dahell with that !MOstimportantis that it works and meets allof one's needs. We shouldn't chase around the new versions, if we hate 'em, like the thread owner.

Sticking with XP too. With more and more updates, XP is getting more stable, like 2000 got more stable with time. Wait another 10 years, and maybe Vista will be stable :)

they make a faulty gaming console, that constantyl over heats and causes you to loose months ov gameplay w8ting for it to get fixd.

then they make a fault os, that is so jam pakd with skin files thers no room for anything else

is mircrosoft going down hill, what are they actualy doing with all the money wee as customers pay them.

then they want to put windows xp, number 1 os to its death and replace it with a shitty os

Would agree. As much as I like Linux, it's not for everybody, and has a way to go before it could become mainstream.
