I want to do a Systems Restore, but the most recent available date for a system restore on my computer is Dec. 24. That was over 10 days ago, which is too long of a gap to effectively use this tool. Does anybody out there know why there's such a long interval? I've never utilized the "Create a restore point" option. Is feature just as good and as safe as "Restore my computer to an earlier time"?
When you "create a restore point", your "backing up" your computer so you can restore it like you're trying to do now. That's why there's such an interval, you never installed a software that created the restore point itself. If you don't want that gap you can go into your system restore settings and create the restore point so that you don't have that gap. Example: If you want to save all your settings and everything today so if anything bad happens and you have to restore you computer like you do now, then you would go into your system restore settings and create the restore point. Now if tomorrow or a week later your computer messes up when you go to system restore, the day you created the restore point was saved and you can restore it to that day.
Thanks, SS. It's just that I was used to having the sysem set the (bold) restoration point date for me, and I was uncertain about setting it myself. When it comes to these things, where I can screw up I will screw up. But with your explanation, I feel more confident now about tackling it myself.
