No reason to upgrade to Vista here either. But then again, starting with a Mac is like starting over with a new operating system, new software to go with. I'll probably go with Mac on the day when the biger software companies will be offering "versions for Windows" as alternatives instead of "versions for Mac" if you know what I mean.
Back this statement up with reasons why you choose a Mac over a Win PC? So that I can learn something from your point.
Well, the Mac is now based on the Intel Processor and being so, you can use Bootcamp (from Apple) or Parallel to install other operating system such as one of the many Windows OS or Linux on your Mac. With that, you get the best of two worlds in that you can run both Mac and Windows applications on the same machine. Bootcamp requires you to dual boot while Parallel allows you to run non-Mac OS such as Windows in a Virtual Machine Environment. With the PC, you can only run Windows and Linux applications only. While the Mac allows you to run Mac, Windows and Linux applications. Sort of why the Mac in a way is an excellent tool.
Just to add, Bootcamp is a free software from Apple and they will provide you with all the drivers for installing Windows with. It will be part and parcel of the new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. I believe they are improving on the VISTA support so when it is available, it will be an ease installing Windows. Bootcamp should give you close to native speed of running Windows, some reported that it runs Windows XP faster but yet to be proven. Parallel is VM so you be running on top of Mac OS X so although it allows you to run, you probably require bootcamp for raw speeds. The leopard looks nice. I ,however, love windows vista haven't had any problems with it and would recommend it to anyone.
