Windows Vista

Hahaha. He just really wanted Vista. I wouldn't have been the first to bought it but hey. Everybody's different.

 

I had been running the betas for the last 2 1/2 months. The OS has its strengths but overall it wasn't anything great.

If you don't have atleast a gig of ram (preferrably 2) I wouldn't even consider it.

All in all after 2 months, I switched back to XP. It may be more "plain" but it is blazing fast compared to Vista. My PC is no value box (2 gigs of ram for starters) and Vista often just felt slow. Besides if I wanted to choose my OS on bells and whistles I would be running OSX.

I wouldn't recommend anyone going Vista before May. By then the first service pack will be nearing release and the OS will be better...

Windows Vista will make your computer crawl. It has so many fancy add-ons that it feels as if myspace has overtaken your operating system. It looks nice but that's all I can say about it - not good for work!

 

I have just got the business edition of vista, it looks very good but does eat RAM. i got 512 in my laptop and when on the desktop with nothing running takes up just over 50%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

And how it runs ? Slow ?

 

To be honest...no although having said that i have not been running anything demanding, games ETC, just internet and spreadsheets mainly. Anyone played games/video editing/photoshop that sort of thing, was it slow? and what spec is your machine.

 

I have it on a Duo Core laptop with 2GB of memory and it is smoking fast, even when running PhotoShop and Visual Studio. It is best to run this on a "newer" machine. If you machine is slower, your will not have some of the extended visual experiences installed.

I also just found out that you can use a thumb drive for additional system memory. Not as fast as RAM, but sure does run faster than disk cache!

 

Hello Live Search, bye bye Google. I am one of the happy folks to hear the release of vista, i was tired of the google vs. webmasters game anyways

 

Yeah I'm not running aero, my lappy not good enough to run it 1.6ghz, 512ram sh*t graphics card. Is the Aero any good practically or just aesthetics and looking flash?

 

The late adopters will just watch and see how you early adopters get on with it

 

Desktop search will prove to be a very usefull feature for everyone.
