I have a 3.2GHZ Pentium 4 with 512mbs of Ram and 7 runs very decent but you can't run really bulky programs on it and forget having multiple apps open at once. Listening to music on itunes and browsing the web is about it. I will upgrade to 1.5gb RAM here pretty soon and I imagine that will really speed things up but yea if you don't need to multi-task like crazy or do any heavy lifting programs it runs fine...and looks cool!!
Honestly Speaking. Time has changed a lot. Today's applications really doesn't honor less than 4GB and of course DDR3. Running windows 7 ultimate or any other version less than 4GB is like you are walking towards a long destination with lots of things without a car! Running and performance are two different things. If you think you are only internet news paper readers and couple of email checking a day then you are fine with windows 7 with 512MB ram. But if you want to watch you tube, I'm sure you will need more ram and graphics as youtube flash player not going to leave you at all. That needs more ram and upgraded browser. Main problem is day by day demands increasing and adding more options to the software making it more complex and more demanding at Processor, RAM and HDD speed. And if you never used SSD drives you will never feel the magic of speed! SSD drive will change your full computer experience ever! So conclusions are.... It depends on you what you want to do first. If you are only article reader on the internet, then try windows 7 at your friends pc or neighborhood. Why wasting money on windows 7 or new hardware? But again you got a bad news! and that is very soon MS going to discontinue too may old applications and XP is one of them!
Windows 7 is far better because it consume less Physical Memory than Windows Vista! & works more faster than Vista
windows 7 is the best compare to vista . because windows 7 is faster then vista and it is easy to use.......
Windows 7 runs faster, consumes less RAM, and is compatible with more applications, so it is better than vista.
Hi xp is the BEST... M vista home premium was run on 1gb but slow and a loot of programs conflicts hapens. Vista unlikeley and microsoft did everything to due to charge for updates and control of pirates.. an more stuff, my acer aspire 120gb hdrw and 1gb ram with portable 320 hddrw broken first week(brand neew), Just waas unwanted software for xp using that vista not recognized , dvb card bus reader not run at all, usb ALL ports broken. So,... now i am happy with xp, ...
Hey Marius, do you know that most of new computers don't support XP? You will never get drivers for your devices if installing XP on new pc/laptop.
I'm still running XP and detest Vista. Go for Windows 7, you'll experience a lot better performance. I'm thinking of upgrading soon.
im running win7 for 3 months and its really quick than xp which i have in my laptop, havent used vista but reading around a bit , 7 is much better.
Window 7 is far better than Vista..that why microsoft lunched window 7 after Vista..because window vista just fail.
I like window 7 which has a gorgeous effect that attracts my attention since it is released. Of course it is better than Vista, for window 7 is just updated base on Vista. To some extent, both has the same structural core.
