    If we compare Win7 with Vista then definitely Win7 is better, because it takes less resources, has better stability, performance, better wi-fi management and of course better taskbar

    But for older systems with week configuration I still recommend XP as the main operating system, because you can get trimmed edition without any unnecessary things so your system will work really good even despite the specification

    I do not think you should install it with 512mb beacsue the os alone need 512mb and to run ie you need 1gb or more to run other proplems!

    I would choose XP over vista to be honest. Choose Windows 7, or I heard windows 8 is almost out.

    I think it goes like this winxp > win7 > vista.

    I'm on 7 now just because xp is so outdated but the ui for xp was basic and simple and I don't like the library format in 7 now.

    Comfortably as what Dynashox had said, Windows 7 is by far exceed and faster than Windows Vista. It's more of an upgraded, faster version of the ol' Vista with lots of enhanced features.

    Of Course, Windows-7 is far better than Windows Vista. I have used several version of windows. To my me, the better order of Microsoft operating system are

    Windows 98--->Windows XP--->Windows-7.

    As well as RAM 512 is also supported by Windows-7.

    The processor should be core i3 to i5 or i7. Windows 7 is suitable for core i processor. But it may be run on Core 2 Duo.
