A lot of signs seem to be pointing towards Microsoft adding a 'hypervisor' as a security measure in Vista. from wikipedia: "In computing, a hypervisor (also: virtual machine monitor) is a virtualization platform that allows multiple operating systems to run on a host computer at the same time. The term usually refers to an implementation using full virtualization." What this would essentially mean is that Windows would be running in a virtualized sandbox environment, and a pre-installed hypervisor could verify the integrity of the windows kernel and processes to keep rootkits out. If it runs using the VT/VMX technology on newer processors, there wouldn't be significant slowdown, since only relevant calls would be trapped by the hypervisor, the rest would be dispatched to the appropriate hardware. So what do you all think? Would this be a good way to increase and guarantee windows security? Or will this give Microsoft more chance to implement stricter DRM and restrict the degree to which other operating systems can run?
Some mens say Vista is not so good for security, however some mens say that Vista is the best. The best method is try. Sorry I can't help now
You can run it as a virtual machine and have many instances, were you speculating that the next service pack will have a hypervisor system? there are measures in place already to look for root kits especially when using ie7 in vista.
