Windows vista lawsuit

I recently purchased a new laptop at best buy with microsoft vista home edition basic edition. I would have preferred XP, that wasn't an option since every laptop came with vista and XP had been discontinued.

The laptop cost $800 and had 512 ram and celeron M processor.

When i booted it up and launched IE it was very slow. The hardrive ticked continuously and launching a new IE window took 30 seconds. pages often froze if overloaded.

My laptop is actually slower than the XP laptop it replaced inspite being brand new.

This is completely unneceptable of computer companies to ship computers with an opperating system that doesn't have the sufficient hardware to run.

Compaq, HP, Dell, etc shipped computers with Vista, which had no business running vista to unknowing customers. Now probably 1000's of people are left with sluggish vista computers.

what a scam. Time to sue.

I too heard that ... I used winows vista beta version ..even though my desktop have 3.4 ghz and 1gb ddr2 ram .. my computer stucked and ....one of my hard disc failed ..its taking too much of memory ...with no program running its taking more that 500+ mb ram ..how can we work with some program when os itself take more than 50% of ram ...so now iam happy with my xp ..its safe ..its reliable ... and i found very very little problems which i could solve by myself ... going to buy a lapto withing next4 months ... i think there wont be any difficulty for buying a laptop without os ..i already have xp

just insert any recovery bootable cd, start command prompt and type format c: /u
reset computer, replace bootable cd with one with windows xp printed on it.
and make your life at least faster.

I too have a new laptop with Vista Premium.

    Intel 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz
    2 G Ram
    512 Mb Vid Ram
    120g HDD

I think it runs just fine.
One thing to check (I found out about this a few days of thinking it was going slow) is see what power level your lappy is running on. I changed it to Extreme Power and now it flies. Apparently, Vista has different power settings, depending on whether it's running on battery or AC.

    Hope this helps.

    Col :)
