Vista beta will be available Agust 3 according to MS. Does anyone know if it is possible for anyone to signup if they are interested in doing beta testing?
Is it safe? are there a lot of security holes in it? My Yank friend is using windows Vista and he took a screen shot for me to see..wow it looks great!!!
its safe ( i dont seem to have come across any security flaws in it yet ) but i wouldnt recommend you to use it as a main OS now since its in beta now .. you better have dual OS.
i was at a microsoft technet conferance for wirless security in cleveland on thurs. and the instructor said vista would be avail. in october, he went on to demo it for a little while towards the end, he had the audiance rolling when he was trying to use the speech recognition tool, and the display driver was having issues with the projector.. but besides that it looked great and had really nice features.. i installed it and had problems with my 3com and my nvidia cards, i found the right 3com driver to use in a forum, and luckily nvidia has a vista beta 2 driver now as well, so all in all i'd have to say as long as you have a back up os to find compatable drivers, go for it..
I downloaded it, but haven't installed it yet, still a little worried that it'll screw up all my files, websites especially I'm sticking with XP PRO for now.
I have a copy right here on my desk but I am almost certain to be disappointed when I can't find drivers for anything... Damn, I want to see how it looks, though. You convinced me.
Here you have the windows vista speech recognition demo. http://www.benjamingauthey.com/PermaLink,guid,acd75a55-410a-4967-8ee5-e901976e5aa0.aspx It's fantastic!
I got the "official" Vista beta cd here. Had it for about 3 weeks now. Still haven't tried it. I want to, since I saw it on vista website. It looks like a real release with the case and serial number, but I'm affraid to try it. All my hard drives have stuff on them that I don't want to lose. I read in the dvd case, a warning that threw me off. // This pre-release version of vista support onlyupgrade from xp. Upgrading from any other version requires clean install. before installing on any system backup so that your data is not lost. //
That can happen also with other things...not only installing Vista. That's a risk that you have to accept.
Yea... I just figured I'd rather not risk it. But if I end up getting another HD, I'll give it a go. You just never know with windows...
