I have windows XP and i want to install service pack 2 can anyone help?

I have done this before but when it went to restart the computer it didn't go back on to the main screen just kept restarting so had to do a system recovery which lost all data on my computer. I don't want this to happen again.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks

You can simply run the SP2 Installer .. It will restart after the installation is complete. Also your problem is not specific :D

This was an old issue which some people encountered. The latest version of the service pack has been patched and should run ok.
Also, have a look at service pack 3 which is now out. You can skip sp2 if you like and go ahead and install sp3 directly.
