You can uninstall what you don't need. Also, you can customize it very well: http://www.easytutorials.net/unatte...ustomization-windows-unattended-setup-part-1/ Both are secure. I have Vista for free. Also Visual Studio and more.
The only reason I don't use Linux is because of program compatibility. For now, I'll keep using Windows.
I use Ubuntu and the only thing I miss from Windows is MovieMaker. But the solution is to run Windows XP under a Virtual Machine inside Ubuntu, runs perfectly.
i dont understand why people try and compare windows/mac/unix they are all good os's but they are good for different reasons and apeal to different people and different users based on the situation and the users needs i wouldnt use linux for web design/video editing but i wouldnt use a mac for a server unless it was for something very specific you get the idea
Well, I believe it is like many others have said. Mac OS, Windows OS, and Linux are all great Operating systems. it would all depend on what you intend to use it for although more and more Operating systems are getting very reliable, complete and flexible to be used almost for any possible task. For instance, 10 years ago it was almost impossible to use Linux for any GUI related tasks.. today with KDE and others it is very good. Mac as always been more perceived as an operating system for designers and graphic applications but it can be used for many other things as well... even programming. Windows has many advantages as well, one being the large installed based, ease of use but especially the continuous development and support community. Having worked ther I can absolutely say the joint effort is tremendous and the attention to detail is higher than ever since the market has matured a lot and consumers are more and more demanding. anything in particular you want to know just ask. glad to help thx
C'mon man. You can not just compare these OS's. They are different from each other in different ways and have their own applications in various fields.
I personally prefer windows as an Operating System because it is more widely used, simple, and compatable with most things. I find Microsoft computers do tend to get more viruses though than Mac or Linux.
I go with unix all the way. I much prefer it over the windows OS as I find it much more stable and easier to work with.
Windows is bettter. You spend time getting things done, instead of spending time figuring out how to get things done.
Windows sucks but is more widespread... windows is like a virus by which we are all consumed.... ah shit... who am I kiddin... Windows is simply more compatible, user friendly and available.
