I have an old game that I absolutely go crazy for when I'm bored. It was the first real strategic game I have ever played- and it's incredibly old. The game was released on windows 95, and is called "Star General". It has a lot of strategy that I am very attracted to- and thus dug it out of the closet to put on my laptop. When I got to install it, it claimed that I have Windows NT technology, and that it can't install because it is a Windows 95 game. My question is...can I get around this? Through emulators of some sort, or anything else? I really don' want to give up on this game.
Have you tried using the windows compatibility tool? I have XP, but I'm sure vista has it. It's in accessories somewhere.
To use compatability mode, navigate to the actual .exe file of the game, right click on it and select properties. Then go into the compatibility tab, and there you should be able to select which version you want to be compatible with.
did you try an emulator? I think that would be the best bet. You could just install windows 95 on a old hard drive, and boot into it for that game. You could problem make it an external if you don't want to open your case. Windows 95 will probably install in like 5 minutes on a newer machine. Have you checked for an updated game?
