Cause Win7 seems to be a good OS. Win8 will be probably something for the bucket again. What new and innovative OS could probably come out of this? Win8 will be for sure a money making place holder again.
10billion pounds It will be around £80, no idea what in dollars, that what I can get windows 7 for so it will be around the same.
Considering the majority of migration to 7 isn't going to happen until well into 2010... why only 2 years? It seems 7 could survive and flourish for at least 4-5 years before an entirely new OS is needed to replace it... There's a big difference between staying current, and forcing overkill on consumers. I don't see standards changing so drastically in the next couple years that a new Windows will be needed, 7 still has a lot of potential yet.
Considering that the next Windows is going to be a new NT line, i.e NT 7, I can assume things might get a little unstable, but not as bad as Windows Vista. Out 2012? I'd go for 2013.
That's interesting. Windows has had a history of releasing alternate OS fairly quickly, but my understanding was that they were trying to move away from it to help them maintain a certain uniformity. After releasing Windows 7 so quickly (even if it's little more than a Vista SP), I doubt this will actually come out less than 3 years later. But I could be wrong.
maybe they should work to improve WIndows 7( maybe to release a service pack or something like that). Anyway developing a new OS is a good idea
