Nice, it looks like Vista, but that taskbar is really ugly.
i wonder why they kept it so thick and wide. i think performance is what they will be producing with this one, after failure of Vista.

So after Windows Vista ... Microsoft is launching Windows 7. How come the name is derived?

As someone has told ...it looks like windows vista itself.

Taskbar is like that for the touch screen feature, it's going to be one of the biggest features in Vista.

Microsoft on Tuesday took the wraps of the preview version of Windows 7, which will be the successor to Vista. Julie Larson Green, Microsoft's vice president for Windows experience, hosted a demo in which she walked attendees through the features of the operating system.

At first glance, Windows 7 maintains the streamlined look of Vista, but appears more muted -- even Windows XP-like. Mostly, Microsoft seems to be focusing more on functionality, possibly in a bid to put some distance between Windows 7 and the criticisms which have dogged Vista.

Yes, but 90% will when it's released.

Only people that actually know what they are doing with computers upgrade from one operating system to another, most people will simply buy a new computer.

I hate to see how people think Vista sucks, I love it. Use it on all my application computers except the gaming one, it's incredible for businesses...

Atleast now I hope they stick to the standard version conventions, instead of jumping between Windows 3.11, 95, 98, 2000, 2003 and 7.

Any guesses if the next version after 7 will be 8 or 2010 or Busta?

Why don't they just stick with Vista and improve it greatly. They could make vista much better if they took more time on it instead of w7.

I think microsoft is just wasting their time releasing OSes too quickly. They need to stop developing the next generation software and focus their money on cleaning up after vista.

Windows Vista was in no way a total disaster. It works just fine...

No clue why everyone keeps saying it was an absolute waste when it performs very well. Granted it didn't do well when I was installing it on an older system, but on my new laptop it's just great.
