    LOL WIN!!!

Exactly, these people are happy enough to steal software (by cracking it and distributing it), so how do we know they wouldn't want to steal our personal information either.

It's most probably copies of the release candidate that MS has been distributing via it's site.

One thing is sure: microsoft is unable to build a such advanced algorithm to block cracking their software.

Isn't Windows 7 coming out on October 22, the scheduled launch date, or did they move that?

If the license prices are cheaper then everybody would be interested in buying an original one.
How much percentage of PC's are built on pirated OS? Any idea?

If they put American Pricing in A Developing Country market where people cant afford it easily we are bound to have piracy

I think they need to work on "cheaper" pricing so that it could be affordable in all countries.

This is not a surprise anymore. There are good in pirating any things. Especially clear copy DVD. I hope Microsoft can do action with this since its not fair at all.

Ultimate form of flattery. I'd be more worried as a software company if they weren't bothering to pirate it, just creates more buzz and brand awareness, so fook em.

I won't exactly blame microsoft for the pricing, but, piracy is still bad for the business.

I'll be buying a copy when it's out anyway. I too don't trust a pirated version.

Well there's always going to be piracy, especially with expensive software, but most people will still get the real version because it will come free with all computors soon. So I don't think microsoft should be too worried and probably won't be.

    Very bad news.

Good point about the cost though.

Maybe SaaS will help rid piracy

Microsoft needs to consider other revenue models for their OS. Plenty of other software has adapted to eliminate the piracy problem in China.

seems you are so familiar with the conditions in China,
but i would rather say that " need is the mother of invention", why fake software are so popular, because not every one can afford to buy authentic ones, it is not only in China, but also in many other countries all over the world.

It is just that China is a country with a large population, thus a huge market. However, copyrights, trademark and IP laws are not a new concept in China, it is common in cities, but maybe new to the rural citizens.

and with the globalization, if a product want to be accepted internationally, then it should suit the needs of the local people, then different version, different prices should be taken into consideration.
