I hate this... everyone thinks "ooh shiney" and look at those features. I mean vista has similar effects to BERYL (a visualisation mod for linux), and now here comes windows 7... what's it gonna do? it's gonna look good and make your computer slow, it's all windows ever does, and yes, i'm a windows user, and yet i dislike it :S
Well anujbux is right.. My friend successfully worked on for 6 months on XP with 64 mb RAM for saving few bucks.only with programming work..(Officially minimum 64 mb ram is supported but not recommended).... but as usual every computer programmer one day gets mad of not playing computer games.. so to get out from this frustration he then installed 512 RAM for playing games... Microsoft always keeps on making better products till it gets the right combination. And then doesn't care about his old products.. I think vista will undergo the same fate as Windows ME edition. But no worries here. ultimately we will get a better product just like XP. People will automatically shift to new product if Microsoft stop support to older product. Just like 98, 98SE and ME are no longer supported.. people migrated to XP... May be in future after 2010+ they may withdraw support from xp. But they will do so only if they believe that windows 7 is the ONE.
Oh Gawd, yet another OS version to try to support... 4 Gig of RAM, most computers in use today can't even allow more than 2 Gig. They're nuts!
Windows 7 looks very nice, but why doesn't Microsoft put all their effort into Vista and improving upon it? Vista hasn't even been out two years and they already started on a new OS? I think that windows is best option for us that's why everybody use it. ================================================================================= jonty4321
microsoft always fights with their own products, not with others, that's why microsoft never thinks like others. and so the winner at least for last 10-15years . although 4GB RAM is not official but, I think in 2010 it will be very common and just like 1 GB for a new PC today. did you know that DDR3 RAM starts from 2GB. so 4 GB ---- not a big deal.
Microsoft has announced that it is scoping Windows 7 development to a three-year timeframe, and that the specific release date will ultimately be determined by meeting the quality bar. Windows 7 is expected to be released on June 3, 2009 according to the most recent news lacking official Microsoft confirmation and sometime near January 2010 according to an earlier claim by a Microsoft VP. Windows 7 will ship in both client and server versions with the client versions available in both 32-bit and 64-bit editions. The server version of Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, 64-bit only.
Yeah. I would rather spend my money on a XP with good specs. 4GB ram is barely enough for vista but 4GB of ram on xp makes it faster than the concorde.
maybe they should stick with a product and work on making it great instead of just creating a new one every few years, people just get comfortable with one OS and then they need to learn a new one, then cycle is repeated ...
