I've recently bought a couple computers with vista. I'm suppose to get a free upgrade to 7, so it's good to hear it's an improvement. Are you guys running 32 or 64 bit? On my 64 bit computer there is a problem converting files to PDF using acrobat, I wonder if that got fixed with 7 or if I will have the same problem (I've called adobe, they told me they do not support thier stuff on the 64 bit vista OS, and they are aware there is a problem)
It's good to hear positive reviews from real users to complement those from the media. After a quick dabble with Vista I'm still on XP. I think with my next big upgrade I'll switch to 7 now. I think you can get a family pack for only a little more than a single user version where you can upgrade three computers in your house to Windows 7.
Yeah! for the same reason Microsoft done affective ammendment in this version considering drawback of VISTA! Microsoft claims that Windows 7 will be applicable in most of operating system using minimal resources as Vista unable to do it
I really liked XP... But I'm liking the features that Windows 7 brings... The speed and less memory consumption is enough for me to jump all over it... I've noticed a pretty big increase in speed and battery life on my Core 2 Duo processor with 4gigs ram... I was expecting Windows 7 to be a minor improvement but so far it has surpassed my expectations... I'm just really looking forward to the release and the many updates that I'm sure is gonna make it even better.
Windows 7 is a rockstar. I uninstalled Vista that came preloaded with my laptop & installed the RC version of Windows 7. I'm in love with it & waiting for my Windows 7 DVD to arrive from Dell.
I used both Vista and Windows 7 at work and home , but I returned to XP. I have a powerful computer so both Vista and Windows 7 run smooth, but at the productivity level, for me, there is no difference between them and XP. With 2 or free software you can make XP look and function like Windows 7. In my opinion Windows 7 without a good security suite is not much secure than XP, plus in time malware creators will start targeting Windows 7 and Vista more than XP. I hoped that Windows 7, will have big innovations, but no. Windows 7 is a "tuned" Vista.
I have found Windows 7 to be excellent. I was always an avid fan of XP, but I have been running Windows 7 64bit for about a month and wont go back. I have only struck one bug so far but Microsoft knows about it and assures that it has been fixed in RTM and will be ok in release. It is a pretty major bug for a webmaster. So, they had better make sure it is fixed.
Windows 7 is heaps faster and much more stable. They even copied Mac a little with the task bar BTW, I also have no issue with flash.
Win7 is what Vista should have been all along. IMO, Microsoft released Vista before it was truly ready, yielding to the pressure to get it done. They got it done and by all measures, it was a flop. It looks like Win7 is done right, and that is the big difference. So, I think there's a lesson for most of us entrepreneurs here. If you do crappy work (like Vista) you'll fail in the long run. The same holds true for building a website. /*tom*/
Lots of little things make it better. And best of all, the updates feel natural as well. Like being able to re-organise windows that are allready open on the task bar. How often have you had 20 windows open and forget which on you were working on. Now you can drag the taskbar item straight to whatever order you like. Just one of the many aspects that makes it better.
It is so much better. I cannot stand Vista, so I was still on XP before I switched to Win7. I have no benchmarks to back this up, but my gut feeling says Win7 is even faster than XP and may run better on older systems, pending disabling themes, visualizations, etc. Now we just have to hope that MS doesn't screw it up with an update.
