Windows 7 Installation

So I finally got my hands on a Win7 x64 iso. I decide to burn it and get cleanstalling.
    But I phail :(

The installer gives me something about a CD/DVD Drive Driver error.
On reading up more on forums, I find out the fix is something about burning slowly. I have, by now, burnt it on 32x, 8x, 4x, and they all failed. My ISO isn't corrupt. I tried making a bootable USB Pendrive out of my Kingston 32Gigger, but DAYM, it doesn't seem to boot :/

So right now, I'm ready to kill myself if the 2x burn copy I'm burning will not work, followed by a retrial of a USB boot.

Any help will be much, MUCH appreciated.

PS> Installing Ubuntu goes much smoother. Period.

You can install Windows 7 without burning the ISO on a new DVD. Just extract all files and double click 'setup.exe'. Setup will check your system and restart in Windows 7 installation screen. Create new partition itself from the Windows 7 installation wizard.

Yeah, not only does that need SP1, but also around 8 Gigs free in C: :)

Anyway, writing this from Windows 7.

Solution: Get a DVD-RW (SONY worked like a charm for me), that supports 1x-2x alone, and burn at 2x :)

2 of my friends got similar problems while installing windows 7. I got the burning speed problem which u already know. Here's how i solved them...

One of my friend installed windows 7 on his intel proccy, clean installation, but he was prompt to insert the disc everytime on startup and some other versions of windows are coming out of nowhere. I knew what is the reason behind this problem as i previously had more of them due to one common cause. The solution is BIOS update. Read This

The other one was having an AMD processor and believe me, we have tried each and every possible thing we can to install 7 on it but all in vain. Thus, i concluded that AMD has got some issues with windows 7. Maybe this will be rectified later.

I will suggest you to update your BIOS. This will surely work. Then it wont be neccessary to burn at lower speeds.

Yes its just as fast if not faster than XP. Uses less memory than Vista.

So yes its the best OS from Microsoft in a long time :)

Every second was worth installing it. Its a massive diffrence from vista where vista was using massive load on cpu and ram windows 7 hardly uses any its so simple and light to use. I would recommend it definatly. Im not going back to vista ill be staying with windows 7.

Surprisingly so! I still boot more often into Ubuntu, but Windows7 is a welcome change in the Windows OS series. If you are on Vista, it most definitely is worth it.

Actually, one thing in Windows7 that is far better than Ubuntu is the looks. I feel the Gnome, KDE, and especially Compiz, give the screen a very playful look. I like Win7's professionalism :) Crystal clear glass, which unlike Vista's, doesn't glitch. Way to go.
