Microsoft is offering students upgrade versions of Windows 7 with a low price of $30.

Students will be able to buy upgrade versions of Windows 7 in a discounted price until January 3, 2010 at 12:00AM.

In order to avail the discounted price of Windows 7, an email should be sent using a valid email address of your college or university. Microsoft will then send an e-mail if the student qualifies for the discounted price of Windows 7.

Most students at large universities can get it for $15 because Microsoft grants licenses to their big clients at discounted prices early. I got Windows 7 early, 2 weeks ago for $15.

It is only to those who is in US and UK only. So not everyone can have the advantage of buying Windows 7 at this low price.

Unfortunately, it's only for UK and US students only. You get to choose between Windows 7 Professional or Windows 7 Home Premium.

If i would choose between the two, i will go for Professional.

    Regular Price:
    Home Premium Upgrade - $119.99*
    Professional Upgrade - $199.99*
    Ultimate Upgrade - $219.99*

Professional is better than home, here are features that Pro has but home doesn't:

**Run many Windows XP productivity programs in Windows XP Mode (separate download).

**Connect to company networks easily and more securely with Domain Join.

**In addition to full-system Backup and Restore found in all editions, you can back up to a home or business network.

I'm currently using Vista but doesn't seem to like it, no choice since it's pre installed when i bought the laptop. Think will upgrade to windows 7 soon.
