Windows 7 crash by Zero Day bug

Looks like Microsoft's security issues continue. Every OS so far has been vulnerable in one form or other, and their latest, Windows 7 is no exception. They thought they had security cracked (if you look at all the hype surrounding it's launch) but, inevitably, someone has found a way to crash a Widows 7 system remotely, (and even more scary, Windows Server 2008 R2) if you look at this report.

    Ooops.

Doesn't seem like you know much about developing big projects like OSes.
Of course all OSes are vulnerable. It has nothing to do with which company develops them, there will always be bugs. They have never said that they got their "security cracked". There is no way to guarantee that any product is 100 procent secure.
All of you people who are talking shit about microsoft, are you really sitting on linuxes and macs? Or do you just think it is fun to join the ever-lasting "windows must die" flame? :p

    about Security flaws, bugs, exploits!

As with any new piece of software or hardware especially servers, operating systems, browsers, wifi or any other networking app's there's going to be bugs and security issues regardless of which company develops them. Personally I think it's a measure of a dev company response time to report and fix these bugs which is critical to maintaining security and stability within any given software app.

Adobe, Apple, Microsoft, Mozilla, Sun corp, etc have spent a great deal of time evolving this process considering the number of consumers relying on their wares and a lot of their app's have been designed with built in report and troubleshooting wizard's to aid this. As I speak I'm aware of modding exploits within the windows 7 system one of them being that the windows vista OEM,

(original equipment manufacturer) certificate can be used in Windows 7. This OEM certificate is digitally signed by Microsoft with its own Private Key with the OEM Public Key plus OEMID (part of SLIC table in BIOS) The combination of correct Private Key, Public Key with OEMID will pass SLP validation as a valid Microsoft license. extract here This will probably be resolved by microsoft to prevent the pirating of their software via an update or in the service pack release.

Exactly. Unfortunately it seems some people will remain "Anti-Windows/Microsoft", no matter how hard Microsoft try. You should keep your mind open to every new development, no matter the history...you never know, you may like it.

If there were no bugs, there would be no development. No development means no jobs and advancements. It's how the world works and it will never change. Microsoft actually may have an advantage, everyone doing their work for them, telling them whats wrong and they'll continually improve and do better - ultimately destroying everyone...hahahahaha.

I have to laugh. Whenever the news of bugs and virus attacks on Windows come out, first response by Microsofties is "All software has bugs", totally ignoring the fact that Microsoft products tend to have far more than any other product.

I don't think that it's the fact that they have more bugs than mac or linux. Microsoft just gets attacked more than the others, because they are the top dog. If hackers turned their attention to mac it would suffer the same fate.

Absolutely false and a naive answer. You don't understand what's involved in order to do the such things on *nix that are far easier on Windows.

I don't understand why people still use windows... It's a big BUG. The entire operating system is a failure and only the future will prove this.

No one is "attacking" Microsoft here. It's just stating facts. The Windows OS is, by it's very nature a top heavy, cumbersome piece(s) of software, being evolved from the early day of DOS and then built upon ever since. It has never been a "clean" build of an OS, like the MacOS or Unix-based OS's. So the Windows operating systems have been attacked by hackers not only because Microsoft is "top dog" as someone put it...but because, whether you like it or not, the software itself is suceptible to bugs. I have no doubt that hackers could cause problems for Mac or Unix based machines...but nowhere near as many as Windows. They are just inherently, by their very design, more robust systems.

All, not sure why some are getting issues from this url. It's fine for me. Also, I have seen this report on Google news with this very link. So I doubt it's a problem url.

Well there is no such thing as a totally secure computer anyway. Remember the attacks on the whitehouse and the pentagon coming from North Korea? Your cache "leaks" information because it shares with all the programs on your computer. Doing updates and buying new antivirus does not fix the problem either. It can make it safer, but nothing is totally secure unless you are offline. :)

    Hi All

Check my FREE Virus / Malware / Trojan / Spyware protection guide in my sig.

Never had a prob when I stick to the points in the guide

Problem usually isnt the OS, It's usually the users lack of security attention

    Regards

You really think that Mac is so much better that if Microsoft went out of business that Mac would hold up?? Now I think you are being naive. I agree that it is a little more secure but come on.

Just being a little more secure is better than what Windows is now but Macs are a LOT more secure and you are still guessing with your statements. When you know nothing about Unix, don't make comments about it.
