hi friends, sorry for this kiddish question on WINDOWS 7 Ultimate...

Which one is best and recommended? 64bit or 32 bit?
is 64bit have significant difference over 32bit?
is 32 bit programs will run on 64bit os?
is 64 bit need specific drivers?

in one sentance "is 64bit leads to any compatibility problems?"

Too keep up to date with the latest and greatest, you should role 64 bit. Yes, there are some applications that give you problems, there is usually solutions out there. Generally, I use Vista 64 Bit at home and am the only one at work who uses Windows 7 64 Bit. I admit, for my Vista at home I can't seem to connect to my work's VPN anymore.

    Hey,
Really depends on how much ram your PC has got. If it's 3 or less gb, then go for 32bit. If you got more than 4gb of RAM, go for the 64 bit version. I think there aren't too much 64 bit drivers issues anymore. Though with ultimate, you can always revert to XP compability mode which should help you with programs/drivers having problems.

First of all using 64 bit improves your speed 4 times more than then the 32 bit, coz here all your ports are using efficiently. This is the main difference between 64bit and 32bit.

Next no 32 bit programmes would be run into the 64 bit.

Another thing there is no need of any driver to be installed in the Windows 7, it would pick up all the drivers inbuilt in it.

And I think 64bit is better for all the purposes and speed does matter for everyone, so I would recommend you to use 64 bit only.

Alright, I didn't know about that. Do you have any backup for the 4x more speed like some article from a science magazine, I'd be really interested in reading about it.

If you do not have more than 3GB RAM then its best to stay with 32Bit version. Some drivers are not easily available for 64 bit version. Another thing to note is if the application you are running are not written specifically for 64bit then they will run slower than if you would run on 32bit. Since most apps are written for 32 bit they will not take any advantage of a 64 bit OS.

    64 bit :
    - need specific drivers
    - can use more than 3 gb of RAM
    - some apps may be buggy
    - works with 32 bit apps
    - faster than 32 bit
