1. For every post a person makes between now and Christmas at this Free Help Forum will earn you a chance at winning $$$ via PayPal. 2. The pot starts at $25. Big woop! However for every 25 posts made between now and Christmas, the pot goes up $1. This means ANY post, not just ones count towards increasing the pot. 3. New forum categories will be added upon request. 4. On December 26th I will assign each post a sequential number and ask a mod here to randomly generate a number that picks the winner. (Vicious Summer, I'm looking in your direction). 5. If this really takes off, I will hand out PayPal bucks in $50 increments. You can win multiple times but I just wanted to give everybody a chance, not just those few people who get post happy. There are only 171 Total posts so far. Spamming posts will be deleted, but small BUT worthwhile ones are encouraged. I will end this early if there is abuse but I will do what I need to keep a good DP rep. Any other suggestions?
Fantastic! If nobody else posts, you'll win $25! The contest is from right now and up to and including Christmas day. Due the holiday I might not post the winner exactly on the 26th, but I've been a forum member for SEVERAL years and am trustworthy (although I do tend to whine a bit sometimes).
How many posts a user have to make to enter the competition? So the winner will be announced on 25th Dec?
Sorry for the confusion. You need 1 post. Every post you make is an entry. For every 25 posts (by you, me or anybody else) the prize goes up $1! A few hundred posts TOTAL will easily raise it to $50 or more! If the total prize pool is $123, then I will break up the prize money as... $50, $50 and $23. We will select 2 $50 winners and 1 $23. If you posted all of the posts then you can win all 3. This way we probably will have more winners and people who try to cheat are less likely to win. I will look at all the posts that where made upto and including the 25th. The prize can easily climb to $100. I might have to pull strings if it gets higher than that (ie, start rolling my pennies from my change jar). I really don't think it will get that high though. My posts count towards the prize but I can't win. I am going to see if we can get a mod from this site to randomly select the numbers so that it is fair. I will also try to post the numbers for the draw. ie... JSmith is 1 - 17 SJones is 18 - 52... Then a mod will pick a random number... if it is 19 SJones wins a prize, if it is 12 JSmith will win. If there is more than just one prize we will pick more than just one number. If there are people who make EXTREMELY worthwhile posts I may just give them money a few PayPal dollars for spreading good karma! I don't guarantee I will have this all ready on the 26th as this is a big holiday but ONLY posts made up to Christmas will be counted.
http://www.dotdesk.com/portal/SignUpforFree/tabid/175/Default.aspx You can't register, if you use the link at the very bottom! Just the smaller link at the top works. Edit: Made a post, and it was hard finding something to reply to!
The forum module for my site isn't nearly as evolved as vBulletin. What was the hardest part of posting?
Is this one worthwhile? http://www.dotdesk.com/portal/FreeH...rumid/7/threadid/197/scope/posts/Default.aspx
Do you guys have any help horror stories? Personally I've worked on a help desk and as a computer repair technician and have a few stories to share. Do you? Help Horror Stories
I thought this would have gotten a lot more attention. It could have done MUCH better if I put more time into it. If I do this again I will probably. 1. Change the Forum Software. 2. Reorganize the topics. 3. Change the registration process. 4. Promote on more websites. As it stands right now here are the entries. dilute 1-4 Meethere 5-7 Nintendo 8-10 nomadicalloy 11-13 rzpvile 14-16 willdav 17-21 zeldadl 22-25 So now we need a mod to pick a number randomly from 1 - 25. Any mod want to volunteer?
er, with the numbers public, even a mod can't do it!!! Look for a script that spits out a randon username. I use a perl one when I have contests.
