I've been having a problem with one of my client machines. It's win 2K sp 4 with all critical updates installed. I can open filemake just fine but if I attempt to open Optigold I run into an application error. The error pop up reads The Instruction at "0x77fcc39e" referenced memory at "0x8b008b00". The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program. Up until today I thought that this was specific to that machine but yesterday I reformatted another workstation and installed all patches/critical updates including SP4. Today I installed optigold and I get the same error. It looks almost like a bad ram issue but I've swapped out all RAM in the machines and still had no luck. Anyone seen this before? Thanks Eric Gregory eric@gatewayconnections.com.
started out with 1.2.2 then upgraded to 1.4.2_08 then that auto updated to 1.5.20 tried at each step and got the same error. Thanks Eric
further note on this, I've discovered that if I use the open.fp5 file I get the error right away. If I open filemaker then use the file/open menu then I can get into the opening process, usually I login and it dies somewhere while opening all the tables. Seems to be random where it dies though. once it crashes filemaker shuts down. Thanks Eric
Hmmm... you may want to do a recover on all your data files just for good measure. Also, you probably want to go back to JRE 1.2.x
Restored all DB files and actually uninstalled and competely reinstalled OG letting it install the default JRE, Same error. Decided to try an upgrade to latest version. Stopped FM server, backed everything up, ran the OG installer, completed fine, opened files locally to complete the upgrade, the damn thing crashed with the same error on the server. Tried three different times always crashing at a different point. This is the third win2k machine with the latest updates/service packs that has had the same error. I'm guessing I'm gonna have to build another 2 k box and apply the updates one at a time until I can break OG and figure out which is the problem. Since this is happening on three different machines all win2k I'm sure the issue is in win2k somewhere. Thanks Eric
I'll see if I can replicate it on this end too, but so far I haven't heard of anything like that. And I know we have W2K machines running it okay.
Okay, we've pretty much ruled out the upgrades, patches and service pack issues - but have narrowed it down to the printer. Here: 1) Windows 2000 installed clean from scratch. 2) Optigold Client install 3) Installed patches one-at-a-time testing the client runtimes after each 4) Realizing a printer was not installed - loaded a HP Photosmart 1000P (MS driver) Network SHARE 5) Optigold will crash upon loading spitting out that memory error. 6) Upgrade to latest HP driver (for same NETWORK Printer) same - crash on start 7) Install HP Photosmart 1000 vendor drivers as local printer - NO CRASH, Optigold fires up fine. 8) Install Network shared printer behind Local - Optigold still runs fine - but won't print reports - only page footer - - - h m m m m m :/ 7)
