In the futer will YPN be able to compete with adsense? Will YPN improve it's ad program so that more publishers will begin to use it and it will become a competitor with adsense? Thanks, Kyle
YPN is garbage right now. theres no advertisers, and they can't target worth a pinch. i hope they improve, but as of right now, i serve them on my arcade site only, to keep my CTR up on adsense
I've also been really disappointed with YPN. Unfortunately, it seems that Yahoo, in general, has lost their way. They had such a bid advantage being so early in the search engine game and they've fallen way behind and failed to adapt to the changing market.
They waste their time adding things that they don't need yet. Instead of fixing their targeting which they know is horrible they add a smart pricing feature.

They used to be very competitive, and actually drew away alot of US-based publishers...but now that the system has gone crappy, I think most are going back to adsense.
YPN is a disaster, everyone who ran it "quit" recently, it looks to be a complete failure. The ads are irrelavant, and hokey. LOL-I hae made a lot off of YPN, but long term-no way.
because their revenue sharing ratio is higher than adSense, which google consider as a "business secret".

YPN is just a joke right now. Their customer service is quick, but doesn't answer questions or solve problems, and sometimes are assholes about it in the first place. Their eCPM is low as hell along with their CTR. Mostly due to off-target ads, which they just tell you to block. Then the same ads show on every single page. So if anyone who comes to your website is a repeat visitor or views more than one page, they see the same ads - lowering the chance of a click by a huge percentage. Oh, and if your website is of a general subject whatsoever, it's worse. Say you have red-widgets and blue-widgets both selling on a larger widget site; chances are, the same 4 ads for yellow-widgets (off targeted widgets) will show up on every single page. Giving you a low CTR + eCPM. Then once Yahoo finds that your red and blue widget website can't sell the advertisers yellow-widgets, instead of changing the ads to something else, they simply smart price you and continue showing the yellow-widgets ads. Try to tell them any of this and you will be ignored. Their response will be, "Try blocking the yellow-widget ads." And of course, if that doesn't work they say, "It is only in beta... in the coming weeks and months we will try to improve the program. And for now, we can't do anything." So your choices are to block the yellow-widget ads or to just suck it up with the even-now-lowered eCPM caused by smartpricing. If blocked, chances are that you will only be shown purple-widgets. Which may or may not be better than the yellow-widgetted smartpriced ads. Oh, and something else to complain about: if ANYTHING goes wrong on the weekend, they won't fix it. They have absolutely NO ONE to fix things on the weekend, as noticed a few weeks ago. They won't even set up a notification for publishers until the following Monday. Their support isn't 24/7 either. M-F 9-6. Have a problem any other time? No one to talk to. Try to send them an email when it isn't M-F 9-6 and your email gets so clogged with everyone elses that they will never get to yours. YPN is currently a joke. Going international will only hurt what is already a piece of crap. My advice to YPN: Rotate ads. Figure out what works for the website. Highest paying ads aren't always best, neither are ads which get clicked a lot. Get a decent algorithm which can account for CTR, eCPM, leads, etc. THEN show the ads according to that. Not only will it help the publisher, but will gain trust with advertisers. Have a few people answer emails other than 9-6 M-F. Have a few people at the office. And for godsake, have a question which says 'do you prefer phone calls or email response'. When we are talking to clients and we get a phone call from you, it is rude and untimely. Some of us have other jobs and aren't able to talk on the phone during your working times. Hell, some of us work during your customer service hours EVERYDAY, thus we can't even give you feedback because when we are off work, so are you. Which leads to another: Fire every customer service representative who is rude. If they aren't a people person, don't hire them. They are there to answer questions, not be pissed off because someone called. Yes, everyone has a bad day. But a bad day shouldn't be everyday.

Hopefully in the future they will, now it sucks stick with AdSense. I would even use AdBrite or another program over YPN.
In some cases it is higher... however, not all. With the new 'smart pricing' even if the bid is high, you might still receive $0.10. Even if the CPC does happen to be higher, the eCPM is lower due to low clicks.
