That's the only way we can guarantee a peaceful end to the ailing Dino I'll create the epetition if most of you want to see an end to dmoz. Cheers I hope this relevant to Google forum
Sorry for the confusion It is an online petition where we, webmasters, can ask Google politely to do something about the problem of dmoz directory. Google is just another search engine using this directory, but he is the one who is giving him lot of authority. Any solution is welcome such as introducing more efficient, fast and fair reviews : webmasters should be able to know the status of their suggestion ; why they are refused and they should be notified when they are listed. Lazy editors should be replaced and all categories should have active editors. If you want to see this petition alive, I will launch it from tomorrow Cheers
I have a listing in DMOZ and have benefited from increased traffic due to that link increasing my SERP rankings. I don't want Google to stop using DMOZ as I think it's a great resource - however I do agree that it needs faster review periods and better notifications.
If you , NewBoy, you shouldn't even leave a message here. Millions of people don't care and don't even hear about dmoz
I like Dmoz. Yeah it's hard to get in, and it takes a long time, but if your website has good, quality content you'll eventually get in. I've got domains listed in Dmoz and the benefits have been great at times. Anyway, signing an "epetition" is a waste of time in my opinion. I doubt they'll stop using it just because a few webmasters don't agree with it
You should have left an option for me like "I don't care". The only thing I'd be happy to see change is the speed at which new businesses are being listed on. It doesn't take that much to hire someone to operate submissions faster. Then I'd probably vote for a slight dmoz redesign.
Ha ha. Lol I was looking for the option too. Some people were not just accepted sites or editorship and they are being SOUR.
dmoz is too old to bear the burden of this internet explosion So Google should look for other options too rather than just relying on it --may be it should include all other directories too in the equation. How many sites currently on WWW are listed on dmoz? I think not even 10% --so is it the only directory that exist--? It is rather a tiring and exhausting experience to find a site on such a big directory rather than a pleasure for the surfers.
Hell yes. I have tried for four years to get sites listed. Not a single one. But if I had one listed, I wouldn't feel this way.
This is the idea: Webmaster can submit their suggestions on how to improve dmoz and by bookmarking the survey, it will be as famous as "Bush failure". Here is the survey page Thanks
Give your strength to other cause. DMOZ is not worth it. I am not a DMOZ editor anymore matter of fact I am an ex-communicado. Terminated. Locked Out. Kicked in the Arse. Just one question and answer me honestly. If I can list your site in DMOZ would you be still campaigning like this ? Or if I choose to teach you How To Become an Editor and bring you in would you reverse your campaign and be quiet ? Just the truth.
I have not submitted any of my site in DMOZ --ever. I think it is better to get backlinks from other sites than from an out of date horse. For information--one of my site ranks on the top page of G --without being listed on it-- so who cares --its not worth it.
