Will you lose your rankings if you quit building backlinks?

    Definitely lose rankings. I've been on the front page of google for my keywords and slacked off for a week or so and found myself far out of the top 100 in the SERPS. Doesn't take much to lose your position. Just being a little lazy and a few other people not being lazy.

    Backlinks are initially important, but your visitor count is more important in the long run.
