I am not referring to "geek scripts" catered for programmers in the language, but scripts written to help marketers in general. Most marketing scripts today are written in PHP. I'm thinking of writing one in a different language, so I'd like to know if marketers in general are comfortable with using Ruby on Rails scripts.
In a very general sense, and speaking only for myself, I'd be reluctant to purchase a script coded in RoR because it's not a scripting language I'm too familiar with. Therefore, if I needed to make some edits to the script I'd potentially have a steep learning curve. But that's just me, I like to often tinker with scripts. I suspect there are a lot of individuals who, assuming the script works "as is" right out of the box, wouldn't necessarily care what scripting language was used to create it provided that it was compatible with their hosting environment.
